WALL-E Box Office!

Cruel fate…but for an excellent movie…you’ll probably be doing him a favor.
Let your sister know that I’ve seen people in their 40’s attending w/o kids!
I know there were a bunch of us college students that were really excited to go and had a blast.

It’s just the way it is right now, it’s hard to change people’s mindsets, especially if they’ve been programmed to think animation = kids films.

But Pixar is slowly changing mindsets, and to a point even DreamWorks. They are targeting older audiences with either adult humor or just more adult depth. I know a few adults who have gotten hooked to CGI animation because of Shrek, and obviously there are a lot of older Pixar fans.

So no worries, we’ll get there. Hopefully 10 years from now, people will finally recognize that animation is a medium and not just a kiddie genre, as the Pixar folk like to point out often.

Agreed, Dreamworks has made it a serious business. Pixar is more going with the crowd that has grown up with them. Interesting concept.
But movies like Aladdin are MUCH funnier now that I get the jokes

$4.3 million yesterday according to Showbizdata. Now at $140.41 total. :sunglasses:

yeah i think movies like alladin and stuff have jokes in them to make the parents not get bored in the movie while still keeping intrest to children

That I can agree to also. I suppose a lot of those films had sing alongs and such. But Wall-E had almost no dialog for the first half of the movie! And people, kids alike, were just drawn into the character. He wasn’t boring in anyway, just quiet

yeah it was A really good movie my dad almost fell asleep in it though but he doesthat watching football too…

Let me just say I’m sure WALL-E will make more money than Kung Fu Panda, there’s no need to worry about that.

I hope you’re right, but it could be close. I’m following their progress here:

By the way, WALL-E dropped to under $4 million for Thursday. :imp: Panda might start catching up real soon.

C’mon people, round up your friends and go!

I might just have to go again. I can think of a few friends that haven’t seen it yet :stuck_out_tongue:

5.6 million friday.

Estimated $18.5 million over the weekend, totaling 162.7 million in the US.

Wow! It made more than I expected and it’s about to break the A Bug’s Life barrier!

whistles quite a bit. What is Toy Story’s mark? Because that would be impressive

$191.7, not that much.

I’m disappointed actually. I want this to make at least $220m. If it keeps dropping like this I don’t think it will get there. :frowning:

I think it just wasn’t released at the right time. It just couldn’t stack up the numbers against KFP, Journey to the Center Of the Earth In 3D, Hellboy II, and Wanted. They should have released it in Novemeber if they wanted to make more cash.

I agree. I miss seeing Pixar films in the holidays. It was like a tradition for me.

It’s funny, I forgot that they used to do that. Yeah, there is something nice about a thanksgiving release date.

well now its coming out in november on dvd and i guess thats something to make us all thankful
