I’M GAME!!!
Totally in for that
Might actually do this just so I can see The Dark Knight. Not like that’ll miss my $8.
Actually after seeing TDK, it was amazing, yes. It was a work of art. Very well done. But most people that I have talked to don’t think it will win best picture (I suppose this goes under a different thread but eh) I think that it will be between Iron Man and Wall-E.
I’m not saying TDK wasn’t awesome. Just not winning for that.
TDK was brilliant. 'Nuff said.
I don’t think The Dark Knight or Iron Man have a chance for best picture. The Dark Knight was great (I wouldn’t come close to giving it “brilliant” because it had many flaws, but it was great) as was Iron Man (same as before, not brilliant but great) but I don’t think The Academy is ready to see a superhero movie as art yet, so I highly doubt either of those will get a Best Picture nomination.
I’m expecting a Best Supporting nomination for Heath Ledger, and possibly Aaron Eckhart if they can focus on his Harvey Dent role and ignore the fact that Two Face kinda sucked. And maybe a best screenplay nomination for it as well. But a Best Picture, I don’t see. As for WALL-E’s Best Picture chances, I’m confused as to if it can enter both that category and the Best Animated. If it can enter both categories, I think it’ll get both noms, but only win Best Animated. If it can’t enter both, they’ll stick to their guns and only campaign for a Best Animated nom, in my opinion.
I don’t think the majority of the Oscar-buzz movies have come out yet, as far as Best Picture goes. Remember how many of last year’s Oscar-movies were from the end of the year? The Oscars have early-to-mid-year amnesia, so don’t count on many of the Best Picture noms to be anything but the September and later movies.
WALL-E hasn’t even managed to make number one over here. A little disappointing…And it will only go downhill since the Dark Knight was released today.
On the bright side - 1.6 million today. It’s been going up this week. Wish it would have done this sooner, but I’ll take it.
INSOLENCE!!! I WILL HEAR NONE OF IT!!!
jk =P … but seriously, I love that movie – I really don’t think it has that many flaws, and Eckhart was perfect imo
WALL-E is finally stabilizing, everyone should be very proud of that.
Clever idea, but as much as I love Wall-E, that would cheat the other movie out of it’s money and it wouldn’t be fair. I will just go see Wall-E again. Can’t get enough of it anyways!
They gave you a ticket for Flushed away? Heh…I LOVE that movie. xD
$1.57 million Thursday - for a grand total of $188.8 million before the weekend. That’s a good $16.5 million ahead of Ratatouille’s pace. If it can keep that pace up, Wall-E has an outside shot at hitting $220 million.
Heh, The Dark Knight doesn’t need anymore money, so I wouldn’t call it cheating if you do it for that movie.
$6.3 million over the weekend. Now at $195.2 million total, breaking the Toy Story barrier.
Yay! It broke through Toy Story, Ratatouille barrier here we come!

From looking at Box Office Mojo it doesn’t look like it has to do much to beat Ratatouille and Kung Fu Panda. Apparently an even 210 mil would take care of their domestic totals. The only real challenge I see for WALL-E is beating Ratatouille’s worldwide take now that it was beat at the box office in the UK by Mamma Mia of all things.
MidgardDragon- Yeah, I don’t get that either. When I went to see WALL-E for the first time, there was a woman walking next to the queue line for tickets almost in tears, saying that she’d pay £50 for a Mamma Mia ticket as they’d all sold out. I was like, ‘whut? Go see WALL-E instead, you silly woman!’
And now The Dark Knight is out, everything else is going to be crushed anyway.
Right now WALL-E should be breaking the $200 million mark! Go WALL-E!!

Iv seen mama mia and its a good film but not as good as wall-e
So far, WALL-E is a failure compared to the rest of the Pixar films. Car set a new low, then Ratatouilee, and WALL-E might set the next low. I’m hoping that we can at least beat the ecursed PANDA OF KUNG FU!
