WALL•E Reviews

The reviews are coming in!

The Hollywood Reporter:
(“This is getting to sound like a broken record”)
hollywoodreporter.com/hr/tel … &rid=11329

New York Magazine (I like them a lot!)
They call it a “Masterpiece.” Read the last two lines. It says it all.

The Los Angeles Times:
(they say “wonderful and full of wonder.”)

I want to see NY Times review!

Wow… I have to say I absolutely loved the New York Magazine one… well I liked all three really but either way their message is clear, and that’s that the movie is one for all ages and I think we will all enjoy it.

Another bad review: salon.com/ent/movies/review/ … 27/wall_e/ :frowning:

Not on RT.com yet though. Hopefully they won’t post it (but I doubt it). Still, it’s not as stupid-sounding as the first two obviously biased critics.

Best Movie ever. A perfect score 10 out of 10, you will love this movie.

I agree!! 10/10

More negative reviews. :frowning: rottentomatoes.com/m/wall_e/

Just saw it as well. All I can say is that it’s truly amazing…

10/10

I just saw it, and it is in my opinion the best Pixar has ever done! It just beat out my original favorite, Monsters Inc., for the top reason that I can relate to WALL-E in so many ways.

I am going to be very honest, this movie rocks, First of all I love Robots to begin with. Second, the movie has a good and positive story, shows how us guys fall for women, and how hard we try to make them happy and get their attention. I just think WALL-E is a must for everyone. It actually made me cry (a little). I left the Theater very HAPPY.

Almost as if… you were smiling throughout the entire movie? : D

HaHa believe or not, that is true, I was smiling, and occasionally weeping. It was GREAT.

Since this topic is about WALL-E Reviews, am I allowed to post my review of WALL-E and say what I think?

Hey guys,

I put together a video review, compiling my thoughts of the film. In short, I absolutely loved it. It’s non-traditional in many ways, so I don’t know how a lot of the world will react, but personally I think the film is a masterpiece.
Feel free to take a look at the review and comment and tell me how bad of a job I did. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, Bennifer3000, that review was great. I loved all the different pictures that were shown. The little bit in the beginning was funny, as well.

Five out of five, eh? I think we can do better… how about ten out of five? Lol, but great job. Can’t wait to see the review of the next movie.

Ok, well I saw WALL-E yesterday, and here’s my entire experience reviewed:

Before actually entering the theater, we were bombarded by a huge line of people waiting also to just get inside the WALL-E theater. So I was hoping we’d get good seats… Luckily we did.

Now here’s my thoughts for the whole experience:
I am disappointed that Pixar, now under ownership of the Walt Disney company, is no longer doing the tradition of showing a sneak peek teaser of their next film before the movie actually starts. So I was disappointed that an ‘Up’ teaser did not debut in WALL-E.

Next up, after being rather disappointed by the lack of Pixar spirit in the previews, my mood quickly changed as ‘Presto’ started playing. This is Pixar’s latest, and (IMHO) greatest short film they’ve created to date! Why? It took me right back to the old Saturday morning cartoons feel, with classics like Looney Toons, or House of Mouse type of spirit, and it just put a huge smile on my face from start to finish, as it brought me back to my childhood. I won’t spoil anything about this short, but the dispute between a rabbit and a famous magician brought me back to watching classic Road Runner / Coyote cartoons, or Sylvester and Tweety cartoons - showing great rivalry and lots of humor.

Next up, the main course: WALL-E.
The opening for WALL-E I thought really set the tone and mood for the film, before actually getting anywhere. With the sound of this happy, down-to-Earth Hello Dolly song, “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” (Which became a staple song throughout the entire film) , like living life is as good as can be… But at the same time, shows what life really is, in this abandoned, trashy, and really depressing city with no life.
I wont say anymore about the film so it doesn’t get spoiled, but I will say that it’s a really different film, than what we are used to seeing from Pixar. There are lots of different emotions in this film, probably more than any other Pixar film, that it might catch you by surprise. There are lots of funny moments in this film. There were tons of moments where the whole audience was laughing, including me, and it was just a great thing to watch.
There were other times, were everyone gets really silent, or heartfelt about what’s going on… Yes, I will say that this is probably (Without a doubt), the Pixar film that has some of the saddest moments that they’ve ever created. Moments that might make you wanna cry, or just feel bad for what’s happening.
But don’t let the sad moments scare you - WALL-E was a brilliant film, that you can only watch to fully appreciate it (Sorry, reading about it or watching trailers don’t do enough), and I’m sure most everyone will end up loving it.

I think WALL-E is destined to become a true masterpiece, and I can’t even compare it with the other past Pixar films, because it felt like a complete step up from them all - and you can only leave it up to Pixar to pull something off like that!

Anyways, that’s my overall thought and reaction to WALL-E, and I hope everyone here gets to see it.
Go see WALL-E now.

What I have found in the negative reviews of Wall-E on the internet (keeping the Rotten Tomatoes score down to a 96% instead of the 100% it deserves) is that they don’t agree with the [spoil]anti-consumerism[/spoil] message of the movie, so they give it a bad rating.

Reviews shouldn’t judge a movie like that. They should judge it based on the quality of the animation and story rather than a point that the reviewer may disagree with.

I have even heard it been called “leftist”… I mean, God forbid we allow our children that is “leftist”.

Ah well… those people need to learn a little from a certain French food critic. And, when 133 people give “fresh” reviews, then those five people that didn’t must have missed the movie altogether.

(My rant, don’t stone me)

Wow, sniff I couldn’t agree more, Disney_Guy. That was a great review.

Well, Disney Guy posted his review, so I’ll post mine.

Once again, Pixar knocked another one out of the park with WALL-E. It was indeed a beautiful film. THe story was creative, and the characters achieved adorableness match like Dory from Nemo. The animation was amazing and the camera shots were incredible. The entire picture looked real and convincing to me, at the same time, animated well enough that I didn’t escape reality. Probaly my most favorite aspect of WALL-E was Hello Dolly. I loved the song “Put On Your Sunday Clothes”, achiveing a sense of fun and excitment in the movie. And for “It Takes A Moment”, I was completel touched and felt the presence of love. (Not to mention that I did Hello Dolly in High School near the end of March of 2008)

Yes, all of this made WALL-E a truely spectacular, phenominal film. But was it my favorite? No it wasn’t. (Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it does not fall up there on my list). Personally, I got a little annoyed with the robot talk. And I found some of the moments of the movie kinda slow and a little boring to me. I expected a lot of energy and humor, but for me, you get a couple knee-slapping laughs, maybe one giant guffaw, but the rest. . . I don’t think so. I got kinda confused with the story (but gradually began to understood it the farther we got into the movie).

Overall, WALL-E is not my favorite movie. I definetely believe other Pixar Films were better in my eyes, but still, if there is one hot movie you should see over the Summer, pick WALL-E. You will not be disappointed.
After receiving a WALL•E watch, I started to question whether or not this film was going to flop or not. But I reminded myself of the 23.3. million dollars it had made opening day, so that was encouraging. I got candy and a soda, sat on the stiff chair and sticky floor, and waited for the movie to start, very nervous. The theatre showing it eighteen minutes late didn’t help much.

Finally, the Disney theme starts. I relax. The Pixar logo begins. I get nervous again. The movie starts. Immediately my mind tells me, “They couldn’t have chosen a better song.” It was true; the song seemed to say that this is going to be one of the best movies you’ll ever see.

After flying around WALL•E’s town full of garbage skyscrapers, I saw how much damage had been done to the planet. It was very sad to see one little robot working on this enormous mess, and the occasional collapse of one of these skyscrapers. :frowning:

Then WALL•E follows the laser guides to EVE, where he is in pure amazement, as I was. When EVE started searching for vegetation, she couldn’t have looked more determined, especially after trying to destroy whatever-it-was that was going to disturb her work. After going through the planet, becoming more and more frustrated, WALL•E was shown to have compassion for her, and most of all, love. After WALL•E gets EVE’s attention, things start to get hilarious. I, for the first time in years, was truly “laughing out loud”.

After EVE took WALL•E’s plant and went into hibernation, I felt so bad for thee both of them. Just when WALL•E is going to be the hero, the rocket takes off with him still clinging on, and poor Hal has to see his friend take off into deep space without getting to “say” goodbye.

After a very freaky but stunning ride through oter space, EVE’s ship arrives at the Axiom, which is populated to the max with robots. I must say that WALL•E and M•O make one of the most hilarious pairs in Pixar history; I’m still trying to decide between them and Remy/Linguini, but that’s off-topic, so…

The upcoming adventures are too hard to describe, but I’ll just say that I found myself with my mouth open about five times.

Captain. Oh, that Captain. Captain has the funniest quotes in the film, mainly because he’s so stupid when it comes to common knowledge here in 2008, but there in 2810, they know nothing about our world today. I cracked up every time he thought of “pizza plants”.

Mary and John were a great couple, and because they met WALL•E, their lives wee changed. And WALL•E had not only changed their lives, but mine also. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve changed my favorite Pixar film in my profile.= to WALL•E, and added a funny WALL•E avatr to go with it.

Why? Because WALL•E totally rocks!

And that’s my review of WALL•E: 5 stars! Although there was a strong relationship, it wasn’t some Disney couple who knew nothing about each other and thought each other looked good, but this couple, WALL•E and EVE, knew about and cared for each other, and that’s what it takes to make a classic movie, which I’m sure WALL•E will be.

Oh, one more thing: It was so funny to see that WALL•E can’t pronounce the name of the love of his life. XD
Bit offtopic but current IMDb.com user rating for Wall-E is as high as 9.3/10 with 1,724 votes. And that’s the highest rating for animation! Sure it will come down in following months but I guess it will be around 8.0 … 8.5.

Ratatouille is at 8.2/10 with 74,953 votes.

Update: User Rating: 9.3/10 (5,314 votes)
