same here i agree too
As for it being illegal, that depends on what country you live in.
So true. State’s side its illegal. But anyone know if elsewhere its not?
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Oh, definitely agreed.
Well, right now I’ve been roaming around the Philipines, and a lot of this has been happening in major cities. There are men from an age range of teeange and up selling copies of movies such as "Kung-Fu Panda, “Wanted,” “The Incredible Hulk”, “Hancock”, etc out on the streets for 90 pesos.(about 2 U.S. dollars) From what I’ve asked, pirated films are absolutely legal here.
I would hate to buy “Wall-E” for just two dollars or whatever low price is out there. In doing so, you end up ripping off the people at Pixar, who worked extremely hard to deliver this piece of work. It’s not legal, the quality’s horrible, and if you truly support Pixar and its works, then just wait and buy it for their price. Accept no substitutes.
It’s illegal over here, but much too easy to buy a copy of films still in the cinema if you go to any large London markets, especially somewhere like Camden where that sort of thing isn’t really controlled. I had a friend who regularly bought these fake DVDs, and the quality was generally pretty awful. I just don’t see the point.
I remember before watching a movie, there was a warning that was saying stuff like “You wouldn’t steal a car…you wouldn’t steal a phone…you wouldn’t steal a DVD…buying pirated DVDS IS STEALING!”
Once, two men came to me and my family and offered to sell us some movies that I knew were still in theaters. They carried a box full of DVDs. I said no, just because I also wanted to see bonus features. I didn’t know it was illegal then.
Later I realized how serious it was, and felt really glad that I didn’t buy those.
Those always make me laugh…the videos at the beginning.
But it is serious, I have done my fair share of stealing content. Sadly I am.
But I have declined multiple times to have something downloaded and the such.
Something I have learned of late…quality is better than NOW
It should not matter where you live in this world, pirating films is stealing, and stealing is morally wrong.
I’m not trying to encourage this, but there are websites out there that allow you to download full movies for free, and in HD quality believe it or not. I guess people smuggle it out of the theater and just resize the raw movie.
Wait a good two months after something comes out in theaters before trying to download it. That’s the usual time it takes an pirated HD version to come out. Oh, and there are free subtitles for Wall-E on the internet on legal sites, this proves pirating is being accepted.
On youtube, most Wall-E vids show content only released in theaters. Youtubers are pirating.
I admit to having pirated before, but I’m trying to resist temptation.
I think that if Disney has played the movie on their channel, people can see it for free anyway, so they don’t care and I don’t feel guilty
Alright, here’s where Dane Cook or Xander Cage (from the xXx film) comes in and say something that’s considered ‘inappropriate’ in the forums, but still make a whole lot of sense to people like us; the rebellious citizens of this blinded society. Blinded by what, ladies and gents, you ask? By the government, people! The government says that piracy is bad, but what do they secretly do behind our back? Gulf wars, gunfire trade, overly expensive medical bills that literally drove patients to their deaths (watch Sicko for evidence). Piracy is bad? THEN STOP RAISING THE TICKET PRICES TO SUCH DARN HIGH LEVELS! We got money, but we ain’t mother freaking gold diggers like you propagandizing folks! We got our rights, too, and you call us barbaric when you are the ones taking our rights of merely just trying to watch a film away?
Back then, all the jolly ol’ folks were able to watch all movies; be them the poor elderly or rich businessmen. Nowadays, thanks to you butt-holes wearing fancy suits coming in to the political ground and raising tax prices, we got to pay more and thus, what happens? We ain’t got the money to watch those movies! To some of us, movies are a sort of education.
C’mon, jerks, don’t be jerks. Give us a break, or 'tis the pirate way we go! Arrr!
Oh, BTW, Xander’s got something he want to say to you piracy restricting politicians:
“You’ve just entered the Xander Zone.”
If I ever get a bootleg, I always wind up buying it on DVD anyways. The bad quality gets to me.
As for good-quality movies on Youtube and stuff - I don’t think Disney cares, and besides if people download the pieces to put to DVD to be ‘pirates’ - whenever I download a clip it comes without audio so … downloading two separate files, one for audio and one for visual, and stitching them together … seems like too much work for a video that’s going to be of very crappy quality once it’s put onto DVD and you watch it on your TV screen.
I love how Disney is very easy when it comes to downloading though - I just helped a friend download my favorite film ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, and if it weren’t for Youtube, a lot of people wouldn’t have seen it since it flopped at the box office, and is rarely on television. So, Youtube allows people to see films they normally wouldn’t be able to see. But that doesn’t mean Disney can’t gain money off of that - I can name several films I’ve watched through Youtube that I’ve never seen on DVD but wouldn’t hesitate to buy them if I ever found them on DVD.
‘Pirates’ is such a harsh term. I think they would prefer to be called the ‘generous movie charity foundation contributors.’ Yeah, that’s it. It’s charity! People make movie tickets too expensive, we make’em for free at no charge, and it still doesn’t really cost the movie producers much money…
Oh, wait, I see what the problem is now, money. It’s all about the greens, isn’t it? We can’t enjoy a good, relaxing movie without you trying to rob us of our inheritance, now, huh? Maybe you should change the tagline of ‘Around The World In 80 Days’ next time to ‘Money makes the world go round in 80 dollars!’ Oh, and the next time we watch ‘Heist’ on DVD, we would definitely remember you, no worries; the participants of your heist!
Money. Tch. Typical.
Oh I’m a pirate and proud, but not so much in a movie sense.
But it all comes down to money. Still doesn’t stop me or my friend from uploading our favorite films in hopes of not getting it taken down.
I will admit myself to sometimes watching movies online at my leisure. But not because of laziness or any of the copyright issues, but because it’s hard to find these movies in my local DVD rental area. Especially Disney Classics that I have this urge to see again. I’d just go online and see some at my leisure when the movies aren’t easy to be within my reach.
I watched it several times in theaters until it was gone, then watched it several times online until the DVD came out, then have watched it on DVD ever since. Oh noes I hurt teh industries by spending hundreds of dollars on the film but watching it online a few times too. I don’t buy it.
it is perfectly legal, because watch-movies don’t actually host the videos themselves. the link to the videos, which isn’t illegal. The content is, but all they are doing is putting a link to it.
BAAH watch-movies isn’t working!!!
I can’t watch Finding Nemo!
