We're under attack by killer bots!

Maybe you should have knocked on

wood, too.

There’s got to be some way to fix this once and for all. Maybe we ought to get some

outside help? Contact newphpbb or something?

Yeah, there must be some way of stopping it.

I was thinking of having more

trustworthy mods (maybe in different time zones) which will give each mod a shift to fill on everyday basis

Ahh – the wonderful bots that destroy everything for no

reason…and just because they can. Elimination is the key. :unamused:

Speaking of "killer

bots", I just found another one. His screen name is rather…umm…disturbing, so I won’t mention it. He

just posted a thread in the Off Topic section; you’ll also find that this bot is

not afraid of adding a few “colorful metaphors” to his sentences.

Sheesh… I’m getting

tired of these bots…

You do realise that

that ‘bot’ is the same person as the other ‘bot(s)’ we’ve mentioned, judging by their exact same DOB…

Hey, yeah.

I never realized that before.

To be honest

the admin should block this person from registering, cuz all she need to know is if it has the duplicate DOB

& a dodgy name then that ‘bot’ should be blocked

Well, there’s another porno spam post on there right now, worse than the one this morning. It might be a very

good idea to pick Mods in all the different time zones. I’d be willing to take on the duty myself, since I

visit the board several times per day, and could at least delete these posts. We had this same problem for

awhile over on our original Never Forgotten Foster’s Community Forum, until Sparky figured out a way to stop

them. Most of the “spam bots”, though, were not registered, but posted as guests, so simply

prohibiting guests from posting solved that problem, and now that we’re on VBulleting, there are even more ways

of banning trolls and spammers and tracking their ISP’s, since posting porn on a site that is expected to be

visited by minors is illegal, and ISP’s will delete accounts of customers who violate

this.

I would also volunteer to moderate the boards in order to get these spam posts off as quickly as possible while

finding a better solution. I come on a few times during the day as well.

I too am extremely tired of these bots. I’ll do anything to help too.

Oh, I’m convinced it’s the same person. It HAS to be

the same person. It’s just too big of a coincidence that all of a sudden, we have a bot joining our forums

repeatedly. How they manage to keep coming back, I have no idea.

~~=oP

I think they just set up another email address everytime

he/she registers. I mean come on, who will be that sad enough to waste their time & register/post random

rubbish here? He/she must be a lonely 23yr old…

Now this is more like it! (reminds me of teamwork from ‘A Bug’s Life’)

We need to have 2 or 3 users from different continents to moderate the forums daily (some from N & S

America, Europe & Asia/Oceania)

I’d be happy to help, too. That’s a good idea, Marty- to have people from different

continents.

Don’t

worry. Dash has a plan.

The Mastermind

is formulating another plot. This is good!

I think Dash has made a test account…

I know this one wasn’t a spam post about, as PV puts it, "you know

what," but even so it’s kind of bugging me to still see it in Off Topic; if one of the mods would take the

five seconds to delete it, it would make Pixar Planet look that much nicer.

I still don’t get how come the same old person get chucked off from the site still

manages to re-register (with different email accounts) successfully while clearly it has an identicle info (dob)

& stupid username…

I know. This person (or group of people) sure

are persistant. I see similarities in each spam bot we have. I’m sure everyone else is noticing too. But I just

wish that they could take their stuff and just move it somewhere else.

The bots seem to be gone now, which is a relief, I’ve seen many a forum be simply overwelmed by the bots,

and eventually either shut down or started from scratch somewhere else.
