What did you think of the Toy Story 2 opening scene (with the Buzz Lightyear videogame) the FIRST time you saw it?

  • It’s REAL! Buzz is really Buzz now!
  • Buzz is dreaming!
  • It’s a videogame!
  • It’s a Buzz Lightyear TV show!
  • Andy’s playing and this is his imagination.

Well, look up! Do you remember what you were thinking at the time?

Since I like the plot to take me along sometimes, I was reserving judgement, and thus I had no clue what was going on (and I was 10). :stuck_out_tongue: My mom and I cracked up when Buzz was incinerated and his legs plopped down
it was a laugh of shock then an awkward silence, then more laughter as we took in the scene. :smiley:

I was thinking that it was either a movie, or a TV show. BUt yeah, that intro really, really rocked.

I guess I really didn’t know what was going in. But, man I was laughing so hard the whole time Buzz was flying down to Zurg’s planet. I don’t know, there was just something so funny about Buzz being so serious with this “spaceman thing” after the last movie. :laughing:

I believe the first time I saw it, I was thinking Buzz was probably imagining it, or something like that.

I think I thought that Buzz was having a dream or something- it seemed like a pretty plausible explanation. It’s a great intro, though!

I can’t say for sure but I probably thought it was a TV show. Shouldn’t this be in the Toy Story section?

Oh, I guess somebody will move it sooner or later. Anyways, TS2’s intro has to be one of my favorites. It’s competing with WALL-E’s right now.

They both did have very good intros, didn’t they? You know what? Come to think of it, EVERY Pixar film gives a great introduction to the setting and mood of the film. :slight_smile:

The guys at Pixar really did a great job with the intro because when I first watched it, I just let my reality sense go away and let the movie (in this case intro) take me on a journey.

I can’t be sure just what was going through my mind, except I was enjoying it all, and my brain suddenly hit a brick wall when Buzz was incinerated from the waist-up.

Yeah, I liked it a lot. To be honest, I thought the WALL-E intro was a lot like it except with different music.

I couldn’t remember what I was thinkin’ when I first saw it.

I asked my brother what he thought the intro of TS2 made him think. He told me that he was wondering if the intro was a parody to something.

i thought it was either buzz’s imagination or it was the real buzz. when he got killed, i was like OH MY GODDDD WHAT’S GOING ON?!?!

I thought it was really Buzz, but as soon as it was revealed to be a game, I thought “Why can’t we have games like that?” XD

To tell you the truth, I was pretty convinced that it was real after Buzz passed through the atmosphere of “Zurg’s” planet
