What Disney Channel show do you miss most?

Yes there was. I didnt like it as much as Aladdin, but I still enjoyed it. Ariel had a male friend, who’s name was Urchin if I recall. I believe thats where its mentioned that Triton’s kingdom is called Atlantica (I think there was a Pacifica too, or some version of the word Pacific). That’s really all I remember of that show. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I definitely remember seeing a Little Mermaid cartoon series on Disney at one point, I just don’t remember what it was like at all.

I remember the Little Mermaid show, and watched it a lot. Which is weird, because I was never too hot on the movie…

I remember the one when Ariel meets Hans Christian Anderson, and he’s so inspirted by her or whatever, and he then writes “The Little Mermaid”. I also remember the other one when she saves an Orca, does anyone else remember these?

Are you serious? :open_mouth:

Whoa, I don’t remember that! That’s a great idea, actually  And Snow White meets The Brothers Grimm?

Yup, here’s a summary of it off of wikipedia

"A character based on Hans Christian Andersen, the author of the original Little Mermaid fairy tale appears in the episode “Metal Fish”. He is voiced by Mark Hamill, of Star Wars fame.

Based on rumors he hears from other sailors about the existence of merfolk, he attempts verify these claims by exploring the undersea world with the invention of his primitive submarine. While exploring the undersea world, his sub springs a leak and his steering controls are affected causing his sub to lose control and eventually sink to the bottom. However, to his surprise he encounters Ariel, to which his claims are verified. Later on, Archimedes, Sebastian, Flounder, The Crabscouts, and even King Triton appear to assist Andersen’s damaged vessel back to the surface. At the end of this episode, the character is inspired by the encounter to “write” the story of The Little Mermaid. "

Since when does King Triton help humans? Afterall, this is still when Ariel’s a mermaid.

I remember that episode! And to answer your question (I can’t believe I still remember this), Triton wasn’t happy helping any human. He did it reluctantly- he was really angry-looking when he did it because when Ariel begged him to help just this once, and said something about “I’m part human, and so are you, Daddy”, he couldn’t argue and used his trident to blast the “metal fish” back up to the surface.

I used to kind of like that series, but now I’m not so sure anymore.

I LOVE House of Mouse and I really really wish it weren’t cancelled! I think it should be “re-opened” again with the arrival of the Disney Renaissance II. (Though exactly how Tangled characters will fit in, being CGI- beautiful CGI, but hard to translate to toon styles- I don’t know.
It had interesting crossovers and puns on the menu (Lion King Crab with Zazucchini  , Hunchback Baby Ribs, Winnie the Poi) and showed cartoons new and old, without needing to shorten them (WHY does modern Disney Channel show cartoons during commercial break only if they cut them short or put them in the stupid BLAM thing?)
My favorite parts, though, are the witty advertisements. One I remember clearly is Rafiki’s ad, saying he’s available for birthdays and all kinds of holidays. If that were real I’d totally hire Rafiki.

Other than that, I did really enjoy That’s So Raven. I loved seeing those visions and how it always turned out to be something different than Raven thought. The twists were really funny.

I don’t remember seeing Timon and Pumbaa on on regular times, but I do remember they used to air it before midnight, and if I could keep myself awake, on Friday nights I would stay up late watching those episodes. I found them pretty funny.

I also remember Lilo & Stitch: The Series. Having watched the first two L&S movies recently, though, I appreciate the movies more and the shows less and less. It’s obvious they began running out of ideas. BUT they were nice and in-character without repeating things unneccasarily, and some experiments were unique and cute. Plus, I love seeing Stitch no matter what. I remember finding it adorable with Stitch and Angel, despite that he’s dating his"cousin" lol… <3 And I liked 625’s excuses. “Sorry I thought you meant 1, 2, 3, then go, not 1, 2, go on 3.”

I also remember always catching up with American Dragon: Jake Long. I found it really interesting how they included so many magical creatures and had their own rules about them. They even mixed in some Greek mythology about sirens and oracles as modern teens (I love those Oracle twins.). I got most excited at the drama between Jake and Rose/Huntsgirl and I was relieved that Trixie and Spud did NOT end up as a couple. It was a funny and creative show to watch. The only thing that bothers me is how the Huntsman wanted to wish for the destruction of all magical creatures- that defeats the whole purpose of being a hunter of them!! :unamused:
I think Wizards of Waverly Place is also trying to replicate that idea of magical creatures in modern New York and modern teens being in charge of magic in a tv show. That’s probably why I like it- just like ADJL, it’s creative, has twists, and also has recurring drama. Both have episodes where a loved one is lost or sacrificed at the end, and an episode where they find him/her again but there’s still a test and all that. It has suspense and continues things. I like that.

I also liked watching Brandy & Mr. Whiskers for the fun of it. Of course, the animals in the rainforest are way too humanized to be taken seriously, but they’re toons, so I guess that’s the point.
But I’m assuming they cancelled it without giving it a “perfect ending” like they did with ADJL. The last episode was just a usual one, not a thing to wrap it all up.

I didn’t watch Even Stevens regularly, but I did once in a while. After years, I still remember one quote, when one of the characters was trying to convince a crowd at school that they were being treated unfairly…
“AND IS IT FAIR THAT PLUTO HAS TO STAY HOME WHILE GOOFY, WHO IS ALSO A DOG, GETS TO GO TO THE BEACH WITH MICKEY?!”
[students murmur in confusion]
“Sorry, that always bothered me…” 8D That just stayed in my head long after the show was over.

Ah, back when I watched Disney Channel more often…

^ Well, now DC stinks, so I don’t blame you.

(hate to double-post, but the thread is dead, so oh well :stuck_out_tongue: …)

Well, you know how they show the good stuff from 1-5 AM? Well, guess what, Disney Channel? I have DVR now!!! Ha! Haha!!! I’ve been recording those shows. I have to say Gargoyles is my new favorite show, and I plan on buying the first season DVD. I <3 Goliath, and even I personally can’t choose between Elisa and Demona(is she really dead? I’m only on the 5th episode D:)! Even though Demona is crazy, I find her character appealing.

I was more of a One Saturday Morning kid, so out of that line-up I’d say “Recess” by a mile. Great show.

That was a great show. I liked the movie “School’s out.”

Aladdin: The Series was on Disney Channel.

You know what I really miss? The old Vault Disney block that was on late at night. That was when it seemed like Disney Channel actually cared about preserving Walt’s history. And who didn’t love that intro?

I also miss Toon Disney from back when it first launched because it was 100% Disney then. Ever since they added Jetix with so many non-Disney shows like Power Rangers and stuff it seemed like the channel started to completely stray away from what it was supposed to be until it finally became the Disney XD of today.

There are two things I can’t stand about Disney XD, which is why I don’t even watch the channel anymore:

  1. Why do they need to have so many of the same shows that are already on Disney Channel now? There’s no reason why we need two channels showing the same thing at the same time. I thought that spin-off channels on digital cable were initially created to be nostalgic.

  2. The fact that they even have live-action knowing that it was once Toon Disney (the same problem that Cartoon Network eventually made of going against it’s original purpose).

Sorry if I’m getting into a rant there, but as I’m sure you’ve guessed I do miss the old Disney cartoons. It’s hard to pick one though cause they’ve pretty much abandoned all of them except for putting some of them on DVD.

Your rant doesn’t bother me. Modern Disney television is not acceptable to any real Disney fan. I despise both channels, and every modern show save for P&F. :imp:

I remember those! They were just on so late. A lot of the stuff they showed was too much for me (a kid!) to sit through that late at night when I was getting sleepy and all that. I did like the idea, though.

The only show I miss is Timon and Pumbaa.

I barely remember that show. I’ll have to youtube it…

If anyone cares, Amazon has the first season of Gargoyles!!!

I used to watch the show all the time. It was basically Timon & Pumbaa on random Ren & Stimpy style adventures that had very little connection to the film at all.

Ah, I wouldn’t like it, then. I like the movie so much, that would likely just make me upset.

It’s not all that bad, and it’s really nothing like Ren and Stimpy humor wise. I just like it because of Nathan Lane’s beautiful voice, and it was pretty funny.
