I usually say three things when it comes to Christmas wishlists.
Incredibles stuff
money
nothing, I’m happy.
But now, I still wish for the first two things. But also add to the list a device where you can play your ipod in your car, or a Tv. But if I don’t get it, then I’m cool with it.
Those were actually my main criteria for my new laptop, lizardgirl. As much as I love Mac and its intuitive (not to mention beautiful) OS, the fact that they didn’t include a HDMI connector (still same old VGA), still had the same maximum resolution as my 2006 model (1440x900 compared to the Dell’s 1920x1080), and an absence of Blu-Ray drive with the new lineup, coupled with the fact that the battery can’t be replaced (thanks to the unibody design) put me off from being a repeat customer. Macs are pretty difficult to upgrade on your own too, so it’s not exactly future-proof, and there’s the 30 GB limit on Windows for Boot Camp. I was also a bit curious about Windows 7, so I figured this is as good a time to give it a shot as any. I still have Apple love, and will probably buy a future model once they offer better specs and a more competitive price, but I think I’ve already supported Mr Jobs enough after getting the Leopard upgrade last year, an iPod Classic this year, and supporting Pixar’s films in cinemas since '06.
Even after getting the Dell, I’ll still continue using my trusty old MBPro for iMovie editing and other Mac-specific applications. Still waiting for it, they make the parts on a JIT (Just In Time) basis, so it’s probably still sitting half-completed in a plant somewhere. For me, though, Christmas still comes early!
BTW, what Vaio model are you getting, lizardgirl? As for your cat, some catnips wouldn’t hurt, I guess.
Aw, that’s a sweet idea, Sally Jonson. I might just have to do that- maybe then she’ll stop sleeping on my bed and waking me up in the middle of the night!
thedriveintheatre- I’ve never had an Apple Mac, not because I don’t like them, but because they are very expensive and also I’m not someone who does video editing or digital art on their computer, so a lot of the stuff Macs are known for, I wouldn’t use anyway! So it’s always made sense to go for a PC.
I’ve now got a Vaio that’s in the NW series, I think. It’s a 15.6 inch screen if that whittles it down. I love it to pieces- aside from the great specs, even the build quality is so much better than my old Packard Bell.
And my cat is silly and doesn’t like catnip, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
Let’s see, money is always a good thing, since I still dont have a cash flow right now. I need a new portable DVD player, because mine doesnt work anymore. I’d love a laptop almost more than anything. Oh yeah and I’d love to get Spock & Dr McCoy. Or, if getting them both is a problem, I’ll just take Spock
