What good things are happening in your life right now?

I know quite a lot of people (in this hemisphere, at least ) might be having some February blues with bad weather or just bad stuff going on right now, so I thought it might be a nice idea to have a thread where we can talk about all the good stuff thatā€™s happening in our lives at the moment. So, what good things have happened to you recently?

Aww, I hope this isnā€™t because of my ā€œbad dayā€ threadā€¦

But things have been going pretty well for me. I just got a new pair of glasses, and man do I feel smart in them!! We are one payment away from paying off our Yukon XLā€¦ which is pretty exciting, since weā€™ve had it since 2004. :unamused: I went with Mom to the bank today to make a deposit.

And alsoā€¦ Iā€™m getting my hair done on Fridayā€¦ so excited! I havenā€™t had layers done in forever, and hopefully my hairdresser will be able to give that ā€œframed-faceā€ look Iā€™m going for. Plus, I love layers anyways. I just wish my hair werenā€™t so darn curlyā€¦ then I could cut it short and not have an afro.

Ohh yeahā€¦! And Iā€™m having a sleepover with one of my newest bestest friends ever on Saturday. (Donā€™t get the wrong idea just because itā€™s Valentineā€™s Day that dayā€¦ hhahaha!!!) She is soooo funny, and weā€™re going to have a blast watching Prince Caspian and WALLā€¢E on Blu-ray with our 27" computer. Happy, happyā€¦!

Wellā€¦Nothing extravagant or anything, but I picked up my car today after being fixed up, and there werenā€™t any ā€˜surpriseā€™ expenses. I was kind of expecting to pay a bit more than I thought, but they actually ended up charging me less than what they previously quoted to me. So a little extra cash is always good.

Well, I may be sickā€¦but iā€™m catching up on my sleep!

Every cloudā€¦

  • Iā€™m starting to settle into my classes now. I was way behind in most of them, but I feel more comfortable with my projects, and Iā€™m even getting good feedback on some.
  • My professor seems to like my writing a lot. =)
  • The weather here is incredible right now. Itā€™s in the 40s! I donā€™t even have to wear my jacket now.
  • Iā€™ve discovered a J-drama worth watching. I havenā€™t watched a really good one since last summer.
  • Film is becoming more and more interesting to me everyday. Iā€™m expanding my horizons and working on my own storyboards.
  • My Pixar blog. =)
  • There are only 2 1/2 more weeks until spring break! Although itā€™s not quite spring here.

Iā€™ve been getting good critiques in my classes which is great! Letā€™s me know I am on the right track. Also am surrounded by some great friends who help keep me sane as my workload increases with school. Good, supportive professors help too.

Oh! And my brother is trying out for his school musical and his auditions seem to be going well. Iā€™m really happy for him.

Good baseball practisesā€¦should do great this year.

God has given me the answer to my Windows problem, glad that is fixed. I feel okay and sometimes pleased with my school which is rare for me.

God also permitted cooler temperatures which helped keep us cold!

My Wii Music is sproutingā€¦maybe i could become a virtual musician.

This is such a great idea, lizardgirl! Everyoneā€™s always talking about the negative aspects of life, so itā€™s refreshing to converse on a positive level for once.

Well, umm, I recently acquired a job at a local theater in my area, finally. I give all of the credit to God for making this possible!! And, yes, the main reason I wanted the position was so as Iā€™d possibly get a discount off theater tickets to Pixar films. :stuck_out_tongue:

Letā€™s seeā€¦ Oh! My family and I got a new rat! He is named Jack Aubrey, after the title character in the Master and Commander series. My mom and I saved him from becoming snake food, and he is now forever grateful.

My dad, sister, and I are going to see Andrew Stanton on the 19th of this month. Thatā€™s always a good thing. Heheh. Too bad Iā€™m not allowed to take any pictures. Blast it all. (snigger)

I canā€™t think of anything else. God is always blessing my family continually, so as long as weā€™re faithful weā€™re in the black, and we always are. We have our bad days of course, but, hey, Iā€™m just thankful to have a loving family and a roof over my head.

I hope that you donā€™t mind my asking, butā€¦ how is the storyboard process coming along? Do you find it to be difficult at all? Iā€™m just curious, since Iā€™m interested in becoming a storyboard artist in the future, even though I havenā€™t practiced at it as often as I shouldā€¦

ā€“ Mitch

The only good thing thatā€™s really been happening to me lately is that I got really good grades on my 1st semester report card. Hereā€™s the results:
World Civ. A
Algebra 2 A
PE A
English 10 A
Spanish 1 B
Biology H A-

Other than that, my life sucks

You all sound like youā€™re having good timesā€¦

little_chef_eva09: That sounds fun! Enjoy it to the fullest!

JesusFreak: Thatā€™s good to hearā€¦surprise expenses, begone! xD

Mark-E: No one likes a cold. Get well soon. On the bright side, catching up on sleep means better chances of dreams! And wouldnā€™t it be awesome if you dreamt of an all-out grand adventure while catching up on sleepā€¦itā€™s the best of both worlds (no Hannah Montana reference/pun intended)

queen_of_painting: Ah, steady progress and step-by-step successā€¦ainā€™t it a great feeling?

Hannahmation: I am happy for you and your brother! Tell him I said good luck (or should I say ā€œbreak a legā€). And having helpful professers, great friends, and interesting classes is always a good thing.

Al-Bob: Things seem to be going swell for you. I know, I find it rare that Iā€™m pleased with school, too. Good luck in your baseball games!

Mitch: God has certainly blessed you so much! Things sure are looking up for you, it seems. I would love to see your new rat, Jack Aubrey. He probably looks at you like a hero. Iā€™m sure heā€™ll make an incredible pet because I believe heā€™ll be loyal to you after that rescue.
Youā€™re going to go see Andrew Stanton? Lucky! (This has something to do with that Pixar job application, doesnā€™t it?)

mo: Donā€™t worryā€¦good things come to those who wait.

-For me, well, I saw a full rainbow in my neighborhood while it rained, with another lighter rainbow next to it. Beautiful sight. I tried to take pictures but it was too big for the camera to catch all in one shot, so I video recorded it. After that, I guess I got a little crazy and carried away because my sister and I were making random silly videos and playing around with the camera.

-Another thingā€¦well, Iā€™ve gotten yet another music video idea. It just came to me. I wonā€™t tell what itā€™s about because anyone could be reading this and might steal the idea while it takes me a long time to complete one. So, itā€™s top secret. Then again, that might also be bad news, too, because it means I have more work to do before the idea leaves me. Iā€™ve still managed to gather clips from Atlantis: The Lost Empire for my very first planned idea, and though theyā€™re not the best quality, theyā€™re acceptable.

-Letā€™s see, what elseā€¦well, my church is raising money to help children with A.I.D.S. afford going to camp (not like boot camp- like a very enjoyable camp where they can be accepted, because some people leave anyone with A.I.D.S. out, which is very sad). So far, Iā€™ve raised $25, and Iā€™m helping out at a bake sale to raise more.

-Also, my quest to see Classic Disney films again is going swimminglyā€¦and thanks to Disney Channel, I got to see Aladdin again earlier than planned. So far, from when I planned it, I saw, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Mickeyā€™s A Christmas Carol, Aladdin, Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Aladdin, Dumbo, and a collection of old Disney cartoons, including Disneyā€™s version of The Ugly Duckling (it made me tear up, Iā€™m serious). And I just got The Nightmare Before Christmas to watch on DVD!

-(Iā€™m trying to list as much as possible). Andā€¦Iā€™ve taken culinary arts class at school and left with some important information and tasty recipes (I only wish I learned to make ratatouille!). And now Iā€™m starting a fashion design classā€¦should be interesting.

-I plan to see Coraline sometime soon, hopefully in 3D. Iā€™m so excited!

-My grades are all good, and a lot of classmates have told me Iā€™m an artist (they started as doodles in class and become more complicated). Iā€™ve made new friends lately, which is good.

-I have a long weekend coming up soon.

-Iā€™ve read eye-opening and deeply inspirational books recently. And an extraordinary novel by S.E. Hinton called The Outsiders in school. It really surprised me. Perhaps the first truly exciting, dramatic, and vividly astounding book I had to read in school with the class. Most books I was forced to read had the same repetitive theme- but this one was packed with those themes AND new ones, making it really enjoyable and fresh. I highly recommend it!

Long story short, itā€™s a good life over here. Not that exciting (sometimes I feel like Belle did in Beauty and the Beast, bored with everyday routines), but doing fine, with some fun highlights. (I wonder if anyone read all that- this is a long post, and I might have made someone less interested by now :blush:ā€¦ )

My life is going pretty well right, i have a 3.7 GPA, my girlfriend and i are doing great, im getting my macbook pro in a few months, and im getting a tattoo soon.

Iā€™m actually still in the script phase. The storyboards are already in my head, but I have to draw them out later. Iā€™m just as new to this as you are. =)

Well, nothing bad has happened to me, so I can be appreciative for that.

queen_of_painting if you draw up some story boards, definately post them!

Ah, Iā€™m loving all the positivity. red- Nope, this wasnā€™t just because of your thread, but itā€™s just one of those times of year that seems to get people down, for some reason. Sounds like youā€™re doing well with the new glasses and hair-do, though! And I hope you have fun with the sleepover.

Yeah, I know what you mean about those surprise expenses, JesusFreak. Car dealerships are worse than estate agents, I swear! Canā€™t go wrong with a bit of extra cash, though.

Mark-E- Thatā€™s definitely one of the upsides of being ill-getting to sleep in the middle of the day!

Pleased to hear things are going well in your classes, queen_of_painting, Hannahmation and mo. There are very few things more satisfying than being told that all the hard work youā€™ve put into things is actually worth it.

Al-Bob- Baseball sounds like fun! Do you play for your school, then?

Mitch- Thatā€™s such a cool name for a rat! Whatā€™s it like working in the cinema? If I were you, Iā€™d be snacking on popcorn all day long. Thatā€™s good that your family is doing well at the moment, too.

I read it all, bright dot-dasher! Rainbows are so rare but so beautiful, but youā€™re right, it does seem to be impossible to get a really good photo of one! Wow, thatā€™s a lot of Disney films. Aladdin has to be one of their best, itā€™s just so funny. That sounds like an interesting novel, Iā€™ll have to find it in the library next time I go.

As for me, well, although itā€™s not technically happening at the moment, Iā€™ve just booked a two week trip to Thailand for November, which should be pretty exciting. Iā€™m going to be volunteering at an orphanage there, and also spending a few nights in Bangkok.

Uhhā€¦I canā€™t think of much else. Which is silly since I started this thread. Well, itā€™s half term next week! But Iā€™m working most of the timeā€¦My catā€™s always a good thing in my life. Seeing her make her own ear go inside out makes me laugh.

Yeah, Iā€™ll get back to this thread when I have more interesting things to say.

Searing for positivesā€¦ Makes you search hard enough to find the one spec of hope that turns the fortunes of the brave right around

Today at school we had a celebration called ā€œThe fair of heartsā€. Itā€™s were you can go around with a date or freind and eat lots of crap or play games and win prizes. Other than that nothin much.

^ what grade are you in TAMATER?

Becuase weā€™d never do that in our high-school. :stuck_out_tongue:

lizardgirl: Trips to other places should always be exciting! What made you interested to choose to travel to Thailand, just out of curiousity? I hope that when November comes around, youā€™ll have a safe and fun trip!
Oh, and yes, The Outsiders is a very excellent choice- I can tell you the synopsis if you want to know what itā€™s about. I know what you mean about Aladdin- itā€™s somewhere first in a list of Disneyā€™s top movies.

Captain Pan: Congrats on your flying colors in Martial Arts! And I wish you good luck in assistant-teaching the class!

CMB: Wow! Thatā€™s a lot of songs. Iā€™ve never heard of any of those, though, butā€¦yeahā€¦

TAMATER: That sounds really enjoyable! I wish I could go to things like that at my school.

Okay, now to announce whatā€™s going good in my lifeā€¦

My church just raised nearly a thousand dollars to help children affected by H.I.V. or A.I.D.S.!!!
