What is Ratatouille?

I’ve only heard of

it online. What is it? I mean, really?

As far as

we can tell, it is about a rat living in the sewers of Paris, France, who has a more sophisticated appetite than

the run of the mill sewer garbage. And, I’m putting my best faith in Pixar to create a very rich plot out of

that…

Ratatouille, literally, is also some kind of a dish.

For some time, we all

believed that THAT was the main character’s name. But it’s been clear for some time that his name shall be

Remy.

Ratatouille is actually a French dish- quite sauce-like, usually made with mushrooms,

tomatoes, and green vegetables.

And French children usually don’t like ratatouille at all (I know what I’m talking about

).

Yeah, the teaser trailers are usually annoying.

Like the cars one, you have no clue

what the movie will be about. LOL. I suppose it adds to the excitement.

This is funny. Like the children who don’t like

ratatouille, the chefs in the kitchen don’t like rats. Do you guys get the connection?

Yeah, I don’t

think that was intentional but well spotted.

I saw the trailer to that movie when I went to

see Cars I gotta say it looks kinda intersting

Yeah, it’s Pixar.

I dread the

day of the dud, I mean, look at Disney, they churned out unreal movies, in the 30’s/40’s and now look at them,

they had to cling onto Pixar or they were in trouble.

Personally, I think that Disney started to go downhill when Disney himself died, or at least

when he wasn’t able to be as involved with his company. He was the heart behind it all, and without him, it

didn’t work as well.

coughLassetercough :sunglasses:

I had Ratatouille on a cruise a few weeks ago. It was

really good.

But it’s probably not as good as the film is going to be!!!

Yeah, haha. This looks good as

any, apart from Cars.

I had Ratatouille last night for dinner. I saw it was being served in the cafeteria, and I just couldn’t call

myself a true Pixar fan if I didn’t eat it.

It was really good. :sunglasses:

Please clarify what it is again.

"This Ni?oise dish is much more than a vegetable

soup. It can be prepared fairly quickly by cooking everything together at the same time, but that needs to be

done in the correct sequence to not miss out the art and the flavour of the dish.

It’s also true that

the recipe can legitimately vary (somewhat) according to tastes, but the variations should be based on

experience. The volume is also very variable.

“Too much” doesn’t apply to ratatouille. Cook it

the first time, and eat it hot as the main course; then have it again later as a cold hors-d’oeuvre. In the

summer time, it’s great as a cold main-course dish. It keeps for several days in the refridgerator. Ratatouille

is good served with couscous grain (semoule) or rice.

Cooking Pot - we use a large pressure cooker,

without the pressure.

Recipe (12 servings; makes about 4.5 litres)

1.6 kg tomato

[tomate]
700 g eggplant (2) [aubergine]
500 g zucchini (2) [courgette]
700 g bell pepper (2-3)

[poivron]
1 kg onion [oignon]
6 cloves garlic [ail]
Herbes de Provence (basilic,thyme, parsley)

olive oil [huile d’olive]
salt, pepper [sel, poivre]
140 g tomato paste"

LOL, thanks Chef.

Seems that everyone beat me to it (to telling

the plot).

Haha – I felt the same! I printed out the recipe and pasted it on

the fridge…so that my mom had to make it sooner or later. (hehe) And yes, it was

su-PERB. My sister said that it tasted like “veggie oatmeal”.
