What is the confirmed plot for Toy Story 3?

  • 1: Buzz Lightyears recalled to Taiwan
  • 2: Andy going to college and dropping off his toys at a daycare

I keep hearing it’s “confirmed” that we’ll get the Buzz Lightyear recalled plot and also that it was “confirmed” that we’ll get the Andy in college plot. I suppose nothing’s “comfirmed” until it comes out of the mouths of the Pixar employees.

I personally would rather have the Buzz Lightyear recalled plot.

Also can anybody tell me the list of new characters that are supposed to appear in TS3? I know Cindy Scissors will be there. The rest?

From what I always hear, it is about Andy going off to college.

I’ve heard the same thing. That plot with Buzz being shipped of to Taiwan seemed to be a repeat of Toy Story 1, just in a different setting. I like the direction in which this movie might be going.

i haven’t heard lots but am hoping for Buzz to be recalled…that would be awesome.

Having andy loose his toys would be a heartbreaker…

Welcome to Pixar Planet, emergencyexit42!
The Taiwan plot is from Disney’s scrapped draft from now defunct Circle 7 and so is Cindy Scissors as well as a few character designs that surfaced a while ago, all part of an atempt to rip Pixar off by making a sequel with their characters. Andy going off to college is the confirmed plot from Pixar, new characters include Ken (as in Barbie) and more should be announced as we get closer to 2010. Although Disney’s recalled to Taiwan plot was once confirmed (w/o Pixar) it was scrapped for obvious reasons if you know the Disney/Pixar, Michael Eisner/Steve Jobs story. Anyhow now that Disney bought Pixar (on great terms) Toy Story 3 is back where it belongs at Pixar and the confirmed plot is Andy going off to college announced at the recent Walt Disney Pictures presentations (forget about the Circle 7 stuff, Toy Story 3 is 100% Pixar)! I’m excited it sounds great.
P.S. I think you should’ve posted this in the Toy Story section.

I’ve heard about both plots, but as Martini said, I thought that the recalling Buzz plot was an older one that was more from Disney’s ideas than anything else. As far as I’m aware, Pixar are going with the Andy leaving for college idea, though I’m sure there are other aspects of the plot that haven’t been leaked yet, as such.

And welcome to the forums, emergencyexit42!

The plot is going to be where Andy goes to college and something happens. Even though the recalling of toys to Taiwan is good, the plot would be similar to the previous films.

I think the toys get dropped off at a day care centre as well.

I’m personally sooo glad there’s no Cindy Scissors…those characters from Circle 7 weren’t cutting it for me…at all…

Nice pun, ToYsToRy928, though I can’t tell whether it was intentional or not. And I, too, am pleased that they didn’t go with the designs of the Circle 7 characters. They would just seem so out of place in a Toy Story film.

Yeah, but if they were good characters which have potential for a good story line, it would be beneficial to the film, too, IMO.

I kinda preferred the Buzz recall story because Woody had his spotlight in the second film. But, then again, I guess Buzz somewhat had his in the first one, and since this is sort of like a conclusive end to the series, I guess the Andy story line works as well.

I already have an idea for what the trailer might be like. (This is a serious trailer for a serious film)

the screen is blank
Woody can be heard saying “What matters is that we’re here for Andy when he needs us, that’s what we’re made for, right”
the phrase echoes out

The screen fades into a shot of Buzz, woody and the other toys being put into a box, similar to what happened to Jessie

scene flashes ahead to box being dropped off at a day care centre
blank screen
“How long will it last, Woody? Do you really think Andy is going to take you to college, or on his honeymoon?”

random movie footage, maybe a few gags that won’t appear in the actual movie etc.

Pewpewpew5522: xD

Sorry, Pewpewpew5522, but that kinda reminded me of a psychological thriller than a Pixar movie. Sorry… But it is a great vision of the final trailer you have there. Hopefully we will get to see the official teaser as soon as well.

I recall seeing a trailer for Toy Story that was rather serious on my Toy Story 10th Anniversary DVD, so it didn’t seem so out of place in my head.

Still, it’s probably not gonna happen. (My idea for a trailer.) I’m thinking of making a mockup trailer, but all I have is those few starting moments in my head. Making it seem like the toys are being dropped off at a day care centre also seems like quite the challenge.

Wow…that is scary. Whew…

Well I think I’d rather see the Buzz plot too (despite the similarities it may or may not have to the other TS movies) because I’m still thinking Andy leaving his toys is such a bummer. I guess I was under this misconception that Andy was different. No, I dont think he’d take them to college, but I figured he would have at least kept them, maybe for his own kids or something. Or since Woody, Jesse, and Bullseye are collector’s pieces (who knows? Maybe Andy would have discovered that) I would have thought he’d want to keep them.

Seeing the recent predictable story lines in WALL-E, your misconception might be accurate after all. Who knows, the recent Pixar movies kinda just focused on a happy ending rather than a realistic one, IMO.

Being that they technically are aimed for a wider audience, including those that are a bit younger, a happy ending is sort of necessary. Anyway, it’s not exactly a recent trend- the original Toy Story had a pretty darn happy ending, if I remember correctly. :stuck_out_tongue:

Though you raise some good points, lennonluvr9. Andy had a massive attachment to his toys even as a child, more so than most other children, it seemed. And I agree- it makes sense for him to keep them, even if purely for sentimental value, or to, as you said, pass on to his own children.

It’s animation. The original audience for animation has always been the younger audience. If you would desire to acquire a widen range of audience, I would feel that your target should be the more mature adults rather than the kids who feed off unrealistic fantasies and such.

And Finding Nemo had a pretty grim tone to it. Now that’s more realistic.

Yeah, but it had a happy ending.

Anyway, we’re going off topic.

Part of me wonders if we’re going to be seeing the Prospector return in Toy Story 3, perhaps also becoming an abandoned toy?
