Andy’s teenager personality will be interesting to see. What do you think he’ll be like-
A wild punk type kid. (This seems very unlikely. Pixar knows that we like Andy, and wouldn’t really want to have that nice image distorted. Then again, this could make a forceful, strong impact on the film. The toys’ expression to see their owner in such a state…)
A shy introvert. (The guitar says otherwise.)
A cool, really popular guy. (likely, but this idea doesn’t really strike a cord with me, for some reason.)
A normal stereotype teenager- (if he’s an absolutely normal adolescent, then his personality won’t really be important to the story. All that matters is Woody and Buzz and Hamm and Bo and Rex and Potato Head and Slinky and the others going away…)
That’s an interesting question, asterixvillochiee. I think that since he was very neutral in the previous two films, that he’ll either continue being neutral despite being a teenager now, or he’ll completely turn into a terrible teenager and Pixar will use this to show the impact this has on his toys. It’s difficult to predict, though.
I always thought he would have turned out to be a bit of a computer whizz, or at least a bit of a geek in that sense. It seems like the natural progression of toys nowadays, what with how they seem to be getting replace with Video Games consoles and the like.
the description of the first image from the movie has his room decorated with car posters, dirty clothes and a guitar. I wish they told us what kind of guitar, that alone could tell us how crazy he could be. is the guitar electric, or old fashioned? I get the feeling its not an electric and just a a standard plain guitar. reason being they want to distance him from sid just as they did in the original movie. and Sid was the 80s rock guy, so the opposite of that would be for Andy to play country music or something similar on his guitar. he’s probably still into the whole western thing, so he probably likes chevy’s. maybe has posters of girls hanging up.
I want to say your stereotypical teen, but I really don’t think that exists. teens can be anything really. the more you try to generalise the more fake he’ll seem. the main thing they need to do is make him older, but not so crazy that he reminds people of sid.
Judging from Andy’s birthday party, I don’t think he would turn out as an introvert. But I don’t think Andy could be a punk kid too. I think he’d be in rock, but no punk, or maybe pop-rock. That’d suit any guitar it turns out to be, either acoustic or electric.
I don’t think Pixar would screw the pooch and turn out Andy as an unrelatable teen.
Oh no!
I had forgotten that Buster might have… you know… how horrible…I mean its been nine, ten years since he was a puppy… oh, that’s awful… I just hope he’s alive!
‘Okay boy, let’s go. And keep it casual.’
…
‘NOT THAT CASUAL!’
He’s not the kind of kid I expected him to be! But seriously though, if we see Andy as some very angsty angry teenager (aka a teenage Sid Phillips), there would probably have to be time taken in the movie to explain why because something would have had to happen to have such a change in his personality. He wouldnt just one day decide to be that way. (now that I think about it, it would be interesting if somehow Sid re-entered the picture, especially once you remember how we left him, knowing toys were alive and completely paranoid of them) I’m thinking Andy will probably be a normal teen, with the normal personality traits, although I thought he was older than a teenager in this movie. Isnt he in college?
Thats the first thing that crossed my mind, too! I am guessing it is either an acoustic guitar or something along the lines of an old rock and roll style Fender Stratocaster. Maybe white and red? I doubt it would be a blazing black heavy metal style guitar.
Someone mentioned that they thought he was going to be older. Well, so did I! Didn’t the original description say he was going off to college? I just thought up a plausible scenario: At the beginning Andy is turning 18. Start a montage of his birthday party, that shows him packing up and leaving home to go to college. Who knows? Maybe his mother met someone knew and now he’s got another much younger sibling. Suppose he left his room pretty much as it was, but after he’s gone, someone like maybe his little sister is clearing out the room so she can have it, so she no longer has to share a room with the aforementioned third sibling. She wouldn’t no the value of Andy’s toys and could very easily just donate them. Please note: This is all just my crazy speculation.
If Andy does just move off and donate his toys, then they are not being true to the character. Besides, Woody was a family heirloom! Even if Andy didn’t want him, his mother would never let him give him away.
The picture, I think, seems to sum up what Andy will be like. Also, I know this seems silly, but I keep thinking of him looking like Master from The Brave Little Toaster!
I think Andy would be the boy that doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him and isn’t afraid to be himself. Bold, but lovable. Not punk or rebelious in any way though. Just the nice adventurous guy…
I think…
No idea. I personally do see him as a punk rocker for some reason. Not having the clothing and hairstyle down to the T, but music wise as to what he listens to. Awww… I wish that they would show us a picture of this.
Anyway judging by the description of this picture, I would say he is an all around type of teenager who is a bit lazy, has some kind of interest in cars and is a music lover.<— which of course is kind of obvious, lol.
I agree that the type of guitar Andy has will tell a lot about what his current interests are. Although now that I reread this thread…there’s nothing about saying we’ll see Andy in that first shot. So maybe the college thing is still part of it. Although if he was in college I’m not sure why he’d leave so much stuff in his room. (I would think he’d especially want to take his guitar)
If it takes place around now, I wonder if he’ll have any stuff from the movie Cars. I agree that if he was at College he wouldn’t leave so much stuff on his floor, (especially laundry), which is why I believe this picture is part of a montage.
