I’m not promoting other forums or necessarily cheating on this one - just wanted to know if I wasn’t the only one who visited other forums. Sometimes forums aren’t responded to for a while and I need to bounce about. I’ll be loyal to this board and not link to them (unless you desperately want them, then PM me)
I currently belong to …
A Return to OZ forum
Boggs Board
Bittersweet and Strange
Chambers of Merlin
… Not that I feel at home in any of them, since B&S was one I used to attend constantly, and now that I’ve returned I feel like an outsider. I’ve never truly felt at home, here, actually - you guys are great but certain things about this place keep me on edge. I don’t feel safe, which I suppose is good for anything on the internet.
I’m hoping to make myself feel more at home again with B&S by attending their trip to Disney World next summer. I may not feel at home there but I know some of the people well enough that I know they won’t tie me in a bag and drop me in a river or something insane along those lines … not that anyone here would do that … I hope.
I used to be a part of quite a few forums… But now I’m only an active member at Pixar Planet. There are a few other forums I wouldn’t mind joining but I don’t think I could have the time and energy required to be a proper member of another forum at this point in time, so it’s best I don’t join in the first place. I still have time for PP, though!
Doesn’t really require much energy to be an active member - I’m just fast paced I guess - I get tired waiting for a reply and like to continue conversations elsewhere with my spare time rather than waiting around for someone to answer. And, in my case, people usually ignore my posts and post about something else, so … I like to increase my chances of a reply.
And it’s annoying because I can’t chat with my friends on AIM since most of them leave their computers on 24/7, so nine times out of ten they aren’t there, and even when they are it’s the same old conversation - “Hi” “What’s up?” “Nm, you?” “Nm”
The Student Room is probably the place I spend most of my time. It’s great for talking about schools and universities, but also just for general chat.
Then there’s Boggs’ Board, and an Oblivion chat board, and that’s about it. Oh, and also a forum that my friends and I made years ago. We’re not very active on it any more, but it stil holds many good memories.
No, wait. I’m also on IMDb.com. It’s good for those obscure movies and TV shows that you think no-one else would have heard of or remembered, but they do and you can talk about them.
rachelcakes: I go there too but what annoys me is I can’t get email alerts and I have to manually go back and check my post history. And, some of the people there are heartless meanies.
I’m on the Meg Cabot (she’s an author, wrote Princess Diaries, among other things) message boards but I havent posted there in well over a year. The only other forum I’m really active at is Beatlelinks Fab Forums (which duh, is about the Beatles).
I hung out on TItinsgo.com for about 2 year. When the how ended people started to taper off, including me. I miss it though. We would talk about a lot of silly stuff but a lot of adult, worldly topics too.
…and then there was that thread about Christpher Walken…
I used to go to the Star Wars message boards very frequently, but I only go there occasionally nowadays. I’m still a huge Star Wars fan, but it’s simply becoming more difficult for me to keep up with the discussions there due to the large number of people posting. Also, the thread that I started just after the Star Wars forums became available - the Episode 3 Title thread (which, not surprisingly, was the thread that I visited most frequently) - got locked down since it reached the 9000 post limit (actually, it got locked down a few posts after it reached the limit - I suppose the mods thought it would be a good idea to let it stay alive for a while considering that it was one of the oldest threads there).
I also occasionally post at the IMDb message boards, although not as frequently as I used to. The problem with IMDb, as FONY said, is that a lot of posters over there are rude. The forums over there are filled with too many “ sucks” posts. Disliking a movie is not bad in itself, but this phrase annoys me quite a bit when the poster provides zero reasoning behind his/her claim.
I mainly am on here posting quite alot. But I do frequent other places only as a ‘lurker’. I don’t say I post on them very much, however.
Some I tend to lurk at are ONRPG’s forums and that’s pretty much it. Because I like to get the latest headlines on any development for any “free MMORPGs”. I just like games and gaming and that tends to interest me quite alot.
I’m currently a member at Jurassic Park Legacy (the title clearly states what it’s about) but I’m just not as active as I am here. (Apparently, my love for animation exceeds my love for dinosaurs. )
