Hi everyone i have some sad news. Let me tell the whole story.

My family adopted a dog named PJ and we got him when i was in kindergarten. On December 24 2008 we did what we normally do for the holidays. We dropped him off at a doggy inn. When we came back to pick him up he was fine. over a few months his right front paw started to fold inward. around march we had backyard work done and there was glass left over from some trash that must have been there before we were. we took him to many vets and they all said he was fine hes just getting old. around June we took him to petsmart to get his hair cut and when we went to pick him up the lady said his paw had a cut on it on the back of his paw. my mom of course was furious because she spent a lot of money at the vets offices for them to tell her nothing was wrong when something was. So we took him to a old styled vet (where they make the medicine themselfs) The new vet found he has a piece of fiberglass stuck in his paw. The fence at the doggy inn has fiberglass and thats when he got his limp was after that. So my mom for the month of July had to soak his paw in warm water with epson salt in it so it will heal. earlier last week we took him back to the vet to get surgery done on it. But fiberglass can get through a dog and end up in its bloodstream. when my mom soaked his paw to try to get it out the day of the surgery she noticed the water filled up with blood. over the past week there has been another cut coming through the top part of his paw. Also now it is to the point where no one can tough it or he will go crazy. he hops around on 3 paws and its very sad to see him in alot of pain. the cut over the past week has grown from pencil eraser circle size to nickel-quarter size and thats just on the front. Last night he was running down the hallway and i heard paw nails moving on our floor. im used to that sound because he is a hyper dog. but this was louder. i ran into the hallway to find him on the little carpet place in the hall he sometimes lays on. i went into my moms room and asked her what the noise was. she told me it was the dog he fell down when he was running. and i asked her what we were going to do because nothing had worked so far. She told me he may have to be put down. i cried all last night because pj is the best family dog i could ever ask for. when im mad at my sister he will jump on the table and eat her hotdogs when shes not looking. im scared now because there aren’t many options of what to do with him now. hes a old dog we adopted him when he was about 2 years old. and so hes around 8-10 years old now. I was climbing on top of furniture when we first got him because i was scared to death of him and that he would bite me but now he has taught me to love dogs and he even brought me into a dog lovers phase in life when i was in the 3rd grade. yes he is still alive , he is sleeping in his box now in fact. i just don’t know how much longer i will have with him. Pray for him will you all? Thanks!

Heres a picture i took this morning, you can barley see the cut but its there and big and icky looking so yeah… :frowning:

srry about this second post but i have to ask… is anyone reading this??

I’m really sorry to hear about the situation with your dog, PJ, moonstarms. It’s the most frustrating thing in the world when the people you’d expect to be the experts miss something or don’t do their job properly. I really hope that your dog will be okay.

Awe! That’s very sad to hear about your dog, moonstarms. I wish your dog the best. I’ve been through a situation where my dogs life was hanging by a thread, but we managed to save her. So don’t lose hope yet!

mind telling the story? lol i need some happy storys now

Well ok. Guess it couldn’t hurt.

So one of the animals my family owns is a black lab/border collie and we got her at about the same time as you! We got her at age 2 (according to the vets; we still aren’t completely sure) so she’s getting pretty old. We’re thinking she’s at least 10 years old.

About 2 or 3 months ago, something happened to her! My brother had noticed that lately she had been breathing pretty badly, and one night it got really bad. So we ended up taking her to the vet (thankfully they also noticed something wrong) and our dog actually had to get an intervenus! Which is a needle that goes into their skin (with a bag hooked up to the needle, filled with liquid). I’m not so good at remembering exactly WHAT had happened, but I do know that if we left her and didn’t take her to the vet or anything of the sort, she would have been gone. Truthfully, my mom had said that if she had been left for the night, we might not have seen her again… :frowning:

Thankfully, she’s much better now. I mean, she’s quite old, so she ISN’T perfect… But man when she goes for a walk, you’d never guess she was hooked up to a needle before.
