What vehicles are in the Cars universe?

There are cars(obviously), trucks, trains, helicopters and combine harvesters. But are there boats, motorbikes, jets, rockets etc.?

Showing more variety like boats and bikes would make sense in the sequel, since they’re traveling world wide. I can imagine a couple of boat buddies from another country on a lake or something as they watch Lightning speeding by on the road and yelling to him “nice wheels!!!” or something like that Lol Or maybe some ruthless bikes try to rob McQueen and Mater :astonished:

I don’t know how final this is, but when John Lasseter was talking about his inspiration for Cars 2, he said," . . . dealing with the motor scooters in Italy . . . " So it looks like motor scooters belong in this world.

And you can’t forget about airplanes and blimps! They were shown in Cars also!

I’ve always wondered how cars travel internationally, or if they even do so at all. My guess is that they ride planes just like we do, except they would be giant cargo aircraft. Although that sounds a little bit awkward for the passengers and plane, because that would be like have living beings inside another living being! But then again it could be totally casual, and the plane could just be like, “Hi everyone, my name’s so-and-so and I’ll be your pilot for today, hope you enjoy the flight” as the cars are boarding on. :stuck_out_tongue:

Then again if you’re anything like Mater you can just drive through the ocean somehow all the way to Tokyo. xD

I feel like the cars would take ferries over seas; that is how you transport a car now a days! I also just love going on ferries…

Does this world only exist with motorized vehicles? For instance, if say Ligthening visited Venice - would there be talking gondolas in the water, or just another normal boat made of wood?

Well, remember Mater in the Dinoco helicopter? The helicopter was a sort of living being, and Mater was inside of him. So that’s probably what goes on with airplanes, too.

That makes the most sense!

There are motorcylces, mopeds, boats, planes, trains, automobiles (duh), rocketships, etc.

Anything with an engine.

Motorcycles and mopeds are heard about in the video game Race-O-Rama.
Rocketships, in read in a disney magazine once, Mater talked about them.

Seriously, anything that has an engine. I saw boats and cranes in Tokyo Mater.

I once thought it was just Cars but I’ve heard and seen everything with an engine in Cars or stuff having to do with the movie Cars. So yes, everything.

As for traveling internationally, I have a story book that shows Luigi and Guido coming to America by boat.

I was mowing the lawn today and I had a little laugh because I thought of this thread, which made me think of lawn mowers coming alive. They do have engines/motors, after all.

That would be strange!

I wouldn’t be surprised! ;-p

I would not consider this canon with the films cause it’s a video game, but today I was watching a cutscene from the game Mater-National Championship and at about the 1:31 point of this video you can hear the sound of ducks in the background: [url]Cars: Mater-National Championship Walkthrough Part 2 (Wii) - YouTube

Seriously, ducks? What kind of vehicle would sound like a duck? They couldn’t be real ducks, that’s for sure!

I think x3haijessiex3 pretty much covered all the types of vehicles that would exist in the Cars universe.

Haha, maybe the lawnmowers are ducks then! :stuck_out_tongue:

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does “canon” mean? I’ve heard other people say that word also.

It’s a word used to describe the continuity within a fictional universe. For example, the way the Toy Story Treats don’t fit the story of the Toy Story films. That sort of thing can happen often with games, books, and spin-offs.

Cool, Flik-E, thanks! I’ve always wondered what it meant because I hear it occasionally. I wonder how that meaning came to be, haha. I mean what does a canon have to do with fictional continuity?

Well it could be. In the deleted scenes in the first Cars video game, Ramone and Lightning have a conversation about flying…and birds. xD It’s quite funny seeing Sally’s face when she passes by Lightning saying, “Ugh! Look, I can fly!”

lol, I’d want to be a lawnmower if I was in the Cars Universe! Ha, no not really…
