Many of us Toy Story fans came to love the movie from childhood. Can any of you remember what the first Toy Story toy was that you got? If so, what’s the story behind it?
For me, I saw the film when I was 4 years old. I actually remember the first time I watched it. At the time I didn’t have a Woody or Buzz toy, but for Christmas the previous year my Auntie gave me a Mr. Potato Head (the standard one with the green cap). It had never really been played with and remained in the bottom of my toy box in my bedroom. As soon as the film finished, I ran upstairs and grabbed my Mr. P and never put it down. From that moment on the Potato Heads were always my favourite characters.
I had the Poseable Woody (not the famous pull-string doll). I believe I got it as birthday present before the film came out. As we all know, the pull-string Woody and full-size Buzz sold out before the movie was even released, so that was the kind of impact the film had on kids. Anyways, it was actually the right scale, so I didn’t mind. I took it everywhere as a kid. It even survives to this day.
I think my first Toy Story figure I’ve ever had, would most likely have been the Toy Story 2 Slinky. Either that or it surely might’ve been the Talking Room Guard Rex from ThinkWay Toys.
Mine were the original Thinkway '95 line (pretty much all of them minus Bo Peep). They were actually my brother’s (he was born in 95, I was born in 2000). Not counting those toys, my first toy was either a Wheezy I got from Toy Story 2 on Ice (not the rubber, more movie accurate one, but a plush one), the Infinity Editon Buzz Lightyear, or a Zurg talking figure from Toy Story 2. I remember being scared of him when I first opened him on Christmas day XD
