What will happen to Pixar when John Lasseter dies?

When jhon Lasseter dies what will happen to Pixar. They will be loseing there best guy and may not get another good one. He won’t be foing for a while but i was wondering.

I prefer not even to think about that…but I think the company has established itself well as is, and John has sorta migrated into a halfway point between Disney and Pixar so his influence is slightly lower. Nobody could ever replace him, but the company would still do well without him, I suppose.

He will live forever in the films he has made.

Hopefully it won’t be a repeat of when Walt Disney died, but I think there’s too many brilliant people at Pixar to worry about that.

hopefully its a long way off yet, but there are many other talents at pixar who will keep the company going with Johns beliefs

Why, what an uplifting thread.

Is this really necessary? What if John Lassiter came on here? Wouldn’t he feel a bit creeped out that we’re talking about his death?

What a morbid subject! I wouldn’t worry about Lassitter.

Ed Catmul founded Pixar, and is probably going to be retiring soon, i would guess. That’s the one I would be concerned about. Without Ed, there would be no Lassiter or anybody. There wouldn’t be a Pixar.

I think you guys are worried that it would be like what happened with Disney, but Disney really didn’t go downhill (in my opinion) till recently. You guys are forgetting that Disney made classics like The Little Mermaid, Lion King, Mulan, and many more without Walt. Disney didn’t go downhill until they stopped caring about their movies.

We have a long time to worry about what happens to Pixar after John.

Yeah… in the 90s. After Walt’s death there was stuff like The Aristocats, Robin Hood, Fox and the Hound, The Black Cauldron. There are plenty of people who enjoy these movies, yeah, but they still weren’t as good as the previous ones. They started going cheap and reused old animation too.

Wow, that’s an interesting if (like another member said) slightly morbid question to ponder. I guess there would be other Pixarians of the Brain Trust to carry on his mantle, so we needn’t worry. In any case, we should be more primarily concerned if Pixar gives in to those finance suits and start making those lousy direct-to-DVD sequels that its parent company has been guilty of doing…

John Lasseter is the closest thing to the “Modern Day” Walt Disney. I don’t like to think about him passing, I would like to see more involvement from him in more recent films as a Director but I know he is still quite involved in his role as an Executive Producer.

However, I think Pixar has other amazing Directors and Producers, talented people such as Pete Doctor, Lee Unkrich, and Brad Bird and Pixar is full of amazingly talented people.
