I’ve either sold, given away or plain out refused to buy any of the Woody dolls on the market. I’m just particularly tired of opened mouthed Woody dolls.
Yes, sure it appeals to kids; I’m fine with that. But don’t try to market an authentic Woody doll if it has the same headmold design as all the others.
Does it have something to do with Pixar not wanting the “exact” dolls out on the market, in fear it will ruin the movies? That’s their philosophy for commercials, at least. It’s odd that no one’s tried it yet.
Its cool. I mean I just ordered the Advanced Buzz from Disney Store, so it’d be kind of nice to have a closed mouth Woody to go along, in keeping closer to how the toys were in their toy state. I really didn’t care for the TSC toys, but its how I roll.
I guess I’ll just have to sit on it. Thanks! -Omar
I can totally see what you mean. So far, there hasn’t been a true “replica.” I can spot minor differences easily, and things like the holes in the hat bug me. So having the face be different was pretty major. Close enough will probably be as close as it’s gonna get, since some things just might not be possible (real voicebox, Buzz’s helmet/wings/karate chop action).
I still appreciate the Toy Story Collection, though, because it was a HUGE step forward in the quality of toys being made.
Just because I don’t have a real affinity for the TSC series, doesn’t mean they’re not awesome toys in their own right.
Thankfully, the Advanced Buzz actually has the laser, karate chop, helmet “whoosh” etc, just like Buzz does in the film. Sure he doesn’t glow, but I don’t really mind that. I’d be asleep when he was glowing anyway, so I’d have missed it.
Oddly enough, the original Woody doll had the proper hands, while the TSC Woody has his fingers molded as one piece. Odd -Omar
Dinoco, as for the head of the Disney Store Buzz not being accurate, I guess someone really skilled could modify it and replace the head with the TSC version.
Hey Omar, sounds like the Disney Store Buzz is cool. Do you think you could PM me when you get it? I’m considering getting it for Christmas.
As for your closed mouth Woody question, I feel that we can only wish for one.
Yeah, the plastic parts were always digital data. The thing about the TSC is that Pixar created original, expressive poses for them specifically for the Toy Story Collection.
