Today I had a really awesome day! A few w[*]eeks ago, my friend received word that there was a secret abandoned swimming pool about an hour into the rural Ohio that the locals had drained and skated back in the 70s. Those of you who know a little bit about the history of skateboarding know that it’s steeped in folklore about how the early legends would find drained out abandoned pools to skate in because there were no skateparks, and that’s basically where the sport grew out of. Anyways, this pool is located a few miles back into the woods, with no address or trails, so we first had to find it using satellite images on Google maps. It wasn’t until this week that me and a bunch of friends got together to go into the country because it was really rainy the past few weeks. When we got there, there was a bunch of debris and graffiti everywhere (it hadn’t been used in a few decades), but luckily we had brought shovels, brooms, rakes, a leafblower, first aid, isopropyl alcohol, etc. It took like 2 hours to take out all the leaves, lawn chairs, diving board pieces, cinder blocks, dead trees, plants, and dirt that had composted there for years. But skating was amazing! It was so secluded, there wasn’t any signs of civilization for miles, and the nature sounds and shade from the forest was amazing. It was like 90 all day though, so it was really sweaty and kinda gross.
Anyway, doubt anyone actually read that whole thing, but I just loved it so much and I really want to go back again. Great day!
Ding: Whoa, that’s so cool! I’ve never been skateboarding, but my dad was really into it back in the day. Finding old abandoned spots is always so much fun, too.
CowgirlJessie: I’m so sorry for your loss. That’s a horrible thing to go through, even if you never met her in real life. The relationships I’ve made on here are just as real to me as in real life, and I can’t imagine losing anyone here. I’m so sorry for your loss
Ding: That sounds awesome! I’ve never been much of a skater, but it would be so cool to find a place that hasn’t been used in so long!
I’m thinking about Harry Potter. Can’t. Stop. Thinking. About. It
So, I just heard about a group called The Bay City Rollers, apparently they had almost Beatles-level fame for a while but I never heard their name till now?
