Watching Malcolm X
Hmm, what’s on my mind. Maybe that amazing Legend of Korra special! Easily best episodes thus far this season. ![]()
Just watched an amazing 1-hour Legend of Korra special. Such an awesome story; wondering how it’s going to play out!!! (not gonna spoil anything right now) ![]()
^ Yes! Yes! Yes! In my opinion the special was the best episodes thus far this Book, and better than much of Book 1 as well.
IV: I know! In fact, I came up with tons of theories last night of what may happen later in the series (don’t take my word; these are just assumptions):
-Unalaq may somehow be dealing with Vatu
-It is possible that this could be the end of the Avatar age
-What if Vatu takes over Unalaq, and there’s a battle between him and Korra?
-Is it possible that Korra may release Rava’s power out of her, thus returning Rava to the Spirit world?
-Or will Rava continue to indwell future avatars?
-Or maybe, just maybe… the same thing that happened to Princess Yue in the original series will happen to Korra; Rava will somehow be killed and Korra will have to take her place for all eternity.
Of course, these are just my ideas, but I think I have an understanding why an Avatar cannot be killed when in the Avatar State now.
Those are great predictions! I agree with many of them, and as weird as this might sound, that last one sent a cold chill up my spine! I was thinking the first one too, [spoil]or maybe he’s allied with Koh, thew face stealer. That would explain why Eska and Desna are so stoic![/spoil]
We’re about to watch Monsters University for the first time after its theater run! ![]()
I LOVE Netflix! I logged on to see that they added three documentaries that I missed in the theater this year. I can’t wait to watch The Central Park Five, Dirty Wars and A Band Called Death! ![]()
Ugh! This whole board is being spammed with unwanted content! And it’s popping up all over the place! Make it stop!
(Maybe I should have put this into Current Mood because I’m frustrated from what I have noticed around here lately?)
The best option is to PM a moderator so that he can take care of it.
Just went out to eat at Cracker Barrel–and I got a Mater candy fan thingy.
Also, I loved Toy Story of Terror.
Watching A League of Their Own
I watched some of The Fellowship of The Ring Extended Edition (with Director Audio Commentary).
Despite the fact that I like the LOTR films, I will never understand where Peter Jackson and the rest of the crew got the idea that Sauron had no physical form during the events and that he was a literal giant eye. That is a massive mistake in adaption. Also, it does get on my nerves when people call the book a Trilogy, when it is in fact one book originally released in 3 volumes (for production cost).
I like that one! What do you think of it?
It’s not perfect, but I’ve always thought it’s very charming.
The thing I would change is I would not cast Rosie O’Donnell.
I’m staying up way too late watching Steve Winwood videos. ![]()
Watching The Way Way Back.
I realized something about Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra today. I hate female characters. I mean it, I hate them. There are exceptions, mainly among Disney and Pixar films. I also like Rachel from Blade Runner, Princess Leia, several Marvel heroines(not DC though. I only like their villainesses, especially Harley Quinn! Weird huh?), and princess characters. Whether they be traditional damsels or rebellious free spirits, I always seem to like princesses. But I used to struggle to think of female characters I liked without mentioning any Disney. Ever since we’ve dated, Glen has mentioned Avatar in passing or just with reference to comparing it other shows. So in February(ish) this year, I watched the whole show, in about 2 weeks. I loved it instantly! Everything was perfect. The perfect blend of Asian culture, philosophies, symbolism; the subtle music, the perfect, fast paced, biting action, the deep characters who actually develop. The villains are three dimensional, and seem like real people, not cardboard obstacles for the hero to overcome. Then they made a comment in a Nostalgia Critic video about what a great show this is for little girls. And I realized something. Avatar made me appreciate, relate to, and enjoy female characters. Nice ones, evil ones, gray area ones. Of course the males are equally as compelling, but that isn’t a rare occurance. It just seems odd that these female characters, some of whom appear in less than 5 episodes, made me understand their motivations and like them more than characters who star in film series, and much longer TV shows. Why don’t people write more characters like this? Characters that act and think like women, but are just as likable and three dimensional as the male leads? Every time I think I’ve figured this show out backwards and forwards, I notice something new. And this might be the most surreal and amazing yet.
We just watched the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey ![]()
