I really need to get motivated. My stories are not going to write themselves!
Tonight I met an author–Conrad J. Storad, from Barberton, Ohio–at the ice cream social in Western Elementary (that’s where my mom works), and purchased one of his signed books. It’s called Lizards for Lunch: A Roadrunner’s Tale. I chose that because of the bird–I have this interest in birds.
Actually, he grew up in Barberton–now he lives in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, and writes children’s books about desert wildlife down there while putting some fun stories into it.
Mom was going to take a picture of me with him, but I think the signature is enough.
So, let me get this straight–now that’s 3 different people I met over a period of 4 years (or should I say three-and-a-half) who also grew up here in Ohio:
(1) Greg Miller, Big Year birder from Holmes County–met at Gorman Nature Center
(2) Michael Comet, animator from Cleveland–met at Kehoe center; gave me private tour of studio
(3) Conrad J. Storad, children’s author from Barberton–just met tonight at Western Elementary
Doesn’t that sound a bit coincidental or what?
^Oh me gosh I am so jealous right now! I wanna read that book! ![]()
Dillinger, you truly are the man.
There was a number of wild fires in our area. my family had to evacuate momentarily, but we’re all safe and back home now.
TSS: You’re from SoCal, aren’t you? ‘Cause that’s where I heard they’ve been happening. (Thank goodness Disneyland hasn’t been hit! -->I looked at the Mattercam.) Meanwhile, up here in Ohio, it has been very wet and rainy all week–not to mention it’s been windy up here a lot lately, let alone the fact that we’ve had 2 tornado warnings up here in the last half-month. Now my Dad is upset because this weekend we’re supposed to have our first farmers’ market of the season, and now they’re calling for more rain this weekend. Something is seriously wrong here…
On my mind right now: I’m having a late lunch.
Yeah, we’re fine, and firefighters have been battling this overnight. but its a new day, still hot tempts, and I expect there might be more until the weather cools.
And yeah, Disneyland is fine, but they closed LEGOLAND for a precaution.
^I’m glad you’re alright!
Watching Bugsy Malone.
I recently got a job at Dierburgs, a St. Louis grocery store chain. I start on Saterday with training.
About a week ago when I was writing my final for my Psychology class (which we got to take at home) I was writing about dysfuctional and fuctional families. My mom was talking to my younger brother, he said she was hungry and she told him there was a sausage pizza down stairs. I was writing then and wrote something like “In fact, it will determin how a kid turns out when they become a sausage”; I meant adult though.
It’s so quiet around here.
Watching The Monuments Men.
A while ago, I was outside near the back deck, pulling out a bunch of thistles from my flowerbed. And there was this robin nearby, and it just kept chirping and chirping as if waiting for me to clear out of its way so’s to get itself a worm.
On my mind right now: I’m typing up a farmer’s market letter so’s to help Mom out while she’s mowing, because the dates need updated–but I have to type up the whole thing because she had lost last season’s letter from a computer crash and she never did any backups.
Watching Labor Day.
So Mom wants me outside working for 3 hours straight–and I’m having lunch right now. But I really mustn’t complain about that–the main point being, I must be real hard-working and cooperative with my work, for the sake of keeping my prepaid refilled. 'Cause in terms of having this second chance for such Pixar stuff I intend to order, straight from the Internet, which I expect to go on from Memorial Day to Labor Day, that’s the kind of stuff I must do.
Fires around my area are starting to be contained. And its cooler. Thanks to all of the brave firefighters.
And possibly the weather, too, of course.
Just bought a Blackmagic Production Camera 4K.
A message for everyone: you’re all awesome!!!
