When I Met John Lasseter ..

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here - but events occured while I was at

the animation awards on Feb. 11th that I felt were worth sharing.

I met the fantastic John

Lasseter.

Wow. You know - there’s always that worry that heroes turn out to not be as great as you

thought they’d be – but that isn’t the case with Mr. Lasseter, he is the nicest guy you will ever meet. I was

looking for him after the award show was over and I saw him and said to my mom "OHMYGOD he’s RIGHT

THERE!" and she just walked right up to him, shook his hand, and introduced herself and then introduced me.

Hahaa. I cannot express how excited I was – I had the biggest smile I ever have had, and he shook my hand for

five minutes and I asked for an autograph and a picture … he helped my mom figure out the camera, and then drew

me a picture of Lightning McQueen

I asked him about his cool

tie which looked like a street but had attached little toys of Lightning and Mater … he said a company in Japan

made them as little attachments for cellphones and they gave them to him. Then my mom and I told him about how

I’m applying to art schools to go into animation and he thought that was really cool … and said the most

amazing thing ever “Well come work for us someday!” To which I quickly replied “YES SIR!” and

my mom proceeded to say “You have no idea – you just made her YEAR!” Haha.
I can’t get over how

nice he was! I could not stop squealing the rest of the way home!
Here are the rest of the pics – the

first two are of him drawing Lightning

So yes - I had to share this with you guys, because I knew you’d all appriciate it. He is such a

cool person and really tried to spend time with me, and I really hope that some day he remembers me. =)

Hey, Jessie! Long time no see, you

lucky girl you. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/grinandwink.gif” alt=“;-D” title="Grin and

Wink" />

I’ve seen Mr. Lasseter in person before, but there was no opportunity for

interaction. Sad for me.

You got to experience something special, Jess,

something I’m sure you’ll cherish for the rest of your life.

~~=oP

Nice to see you!
Yeah I know - it’s one of those

things I’m never going to forget. And it’s great because he totally gets it too - he’s a big animation geek,

you know? And he knows what it’s like to meet one of your heroes. So I’m sure he could tell how excited I was.

My mouth hurt so much from smiling! I’m sure for him it’d be like meeting Walt Disney or one of the nine old

men back when they were all alive and working on films.

And I still wish I had asked him more - especially

since I just remembered he worked at Disneyland the summer Space Mountain opened. My mom has this story about her

friend Bob who snuck her in as an employee and she got to ride Space Mountain 6 times in a row before it was open

to the public (the first time it broke down though heh) – so now I’m really curious if Lasseter remembers her

friend. Hopefully she can contact Bob again and see - that’d be pretty funny if they knew eachother!

Wow – way to go, Jessie! Congratulations on getting to meet one of the masterminds

behind the studio at last – it must have been a great honor to meet him.

My dad used to work with him,

actually. He seems really nice, and I’d love to meet him one of these days, as well.

Oh, and I

absolutely love his tie.

Wow! You are soooo lucky! I have an insane jealous rage of course  How amazing would

that be? And him drawing a Lightning McQueen for you too??? Oh man, I would be over the edge! That’s so

awesome!

Jessie: You were really lucky to meet John! I wish I can meet him some day as well!

Wow, that must’ve been amazing to actually meet Mr.

Lasseter in person! It’s great to know that he’s happy to spend time with his fans and is actually appreciative

of how much we all love him- the fact that he took the time to even draw you a picture proves what a great guy he

is!

Jessie:

I am so jealous. You lucky person you. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him. But anyways, cherrish this

moment.

Your so lucky to have

gotten the chance to meet him. Congradulations!

AHHH!

I’m so freakin’ jealous. I admire him SO much!!

Aww , that lightning rocks ! It;s the best one i’ve ever seen in my life … even better than

the classic storyboard ones ( im a fan of first draft doodles ) .

I wish I could meet John Lasseter .

That’s It ! I going into animation ! Or at least … storyboard designing . Can you go to college for that ?

Because that sounds like the most fun . ;p

Well the pics werent working for me before but they are now! That lightning doodle is pretty

cute! And I like john’s tie!

I know

how it feels to meet somebody you admire so much. You blank out, star struck, and all you can think about is how

wonderful it is to meet somebody!

I’m glad John Lasseter takes a moment to reach out to people who may

not otherwise have a chance to know him. Cheers to Pixar!

Just currious, how long did it take for him to draw the lightning Picture?

Wow, what can I say that

hasn’t been said already?

Jessie, that is soo amazing! I would love to meet John Lasseter. You should

cherish that moment for all time… And thank you so much for sharing your experience with us!

THATS NOT FAIR!!! how did you meet him!?!?!?! you HAVE to tell me!

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEE!!!
I’ll be your best friend!
The only famous

person I ever met was Jojo…
so yeah, my life’s pretty boring.

Wow! You are so lucky! I am so jealous.

I love his tie as well! Even when he is all dressed up and can’t wear his flamboyant (and I mean

that in the nicest way) t shirts, he likes to have his personality come through. That’s really cool.

I

wonder if he will be making an appearance at the Pixar Exhibition here in Australia, or if he will be too busy

with his many other jobs… crosses fingers

Didn’t you read Jessie’s

first post, M&S? She explained her story pretty vividly.

~~=oP

Well,

it is good to keep hopes up. But even if he doesn’t show up, there could be a chance that you can see other

notable people who work at Pixar.

I hope so! But I’d be stoked to meet Andrew Stanton or

Brad Bird and especially John Lasseter.
