Hey all, wasn’t entirely sure where to post this, but “When She Loved Me” was recorded for DisneyMania 7 by Bridgit Mendler (If you watch Disney Channel, she was on Wizards of Waverly place [Juliet] and will star in [Good Luck Charlie-a new show this spring])
Normally the DisneyMania CD’s seem to have some pretty good remixes and, in my opinion, this one was done nicely. (nothing beats the original though)
S’okay, but like most posters here said, I prefer the original. It seems more quiet and contemplative, the remix is a bit too ‘noise-distracting’ and melodramatic for me.
No one is screwing up anyone’s memories here, their not replacing the songs in the movies so I don’t see why people are complaining.
I agree this doesn’t touch the original, but its not bad really. just kinds plain.
This isn’t much different to me than most alternate covers of Disney songs. for example, I didn’t like Celine Dion’s cover of tale as old as time either.
Not that Disney mania is anywhere near the quality of those types of covers, just saying I feel the same about them.
Its not pointless though, it can be interesting to hear another take on a well known song. as long as they don’t replace the original in any version of the movie Im fine.
ahhh… the first five seconds had me annoyed. i don’t like the electronic sound… something about it just annoys me.
but i will say that her voice is actually okay compared to other disney stars.
i remember seeing that comment. it made me laugh. but at the same time, it was kind of annoying that the person didn’t even try to figure out why a girl was singing the song.
Comments like that are disappointing. It wasn’t that type of romantic context in the film, it’s not in this new cover. So get over it. Even if it was- well let’s not even touch the whole factor that girls can miss the love of other girls. People are just so silly.
Anyway, I haven’t listened to any Disney Manias since way back when, probably nothing any later than vol. 3. It’s not like they’re Kidz Bop or whatever. The songs aren’t being remade to…remake them to get money. Disney Mania is just a fun novelty product that gives you an alternative to listen to when you want to hear your favorite songs in a different platform. They’re very… jam out-able in my opinion. And every know and then songs like Proud of Your Boy get mainstreamed and that’s always cool.
I mean nothing beats the original Hakuna Matata by Nathan, Matthew, and Ernie… But I do enjoy the Baha Men version to jam out to every now and then. It’s just FUN. Covers like that, Plain White Ts (When I See an Elephant Fly), Jump5 (Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride), all good fun. It was when three Jonas Brothers covers came out… and they all sounded the same… and none of them very good, that made me question what the goal of the DM series was ><
Anyroad, I like this a lot! I don’t watch many of the Disney Channel shows, especially ones that came out in the last few years, but this girl is neat, I’m glad she’s getting her own show, good for her! And I like this cover. It’s definitely going to make me look into the rest of the CD.
Completely random point - according to the soundtrack of The Lion king (which I own), Matthew Broderick didn’t sing in the film version of Hakuna Matata. In fact, if I recall correctly, neither of Simba’s speaking voice actors actually sing in the film.
As for the main topic, I haven’t listened to the actual track (my computer is really, really slow), but I imagine it’s perfectly doable to make a good cover of it. I can certainly imagine a ‘poppier’ version of it.
