I’m sure you’ve all noticed by now that in every Toy Story 3 clip, Mrs. Potato Head is missing an eye. It’s assumed Andy lost it during play.
Now in TS2, they use one of Mr. Potato Head’s eyes to see through Al’s vent. So, wherever Mrs. Potato Head’s eye is, wouldn’t she be seeing everything around it? Like if it was under the couch or something, couldn’t she tell? Her vision would always be split, she’d always be seeing half of where her lost eye is. I don’t know…just a thought.
You know, I never really thought about that. I guess she would be seeing half-and-half all the time, but if her eye had gotten too far away she’d have no idea where it is. I think I pretty much got what the missing eye thing was about cause of the way parts of your toys tend to get lost or end up missing as you get older. In fact when I was a kid I bought a Hercules action figure at Disney World that was supposed to shoot arrows, but some of the arrows got left behind while I was there.
Yeah, I wondered that as well. It makes sense that maybe Andy or Molly lost the other eye while playing with her, but Mrs. Potato Head should be able to tell where it is since she can see through it.
Hmm… maybe it got destroyed(?) so maybe that explains why she doesn’t have it or maybe it’s at a spot that no one will be able to reach?
I’m pretty sure they’ll explain it in the movie. Least part of me hopes lol.
Haha, that’s a very good point, YouUnculturedSwine! Perhaps there’s a limit as to how far she can be away from her eye for her to be able to see through it? Or perhaps, as KarmaWolf said, it’s been irreversibly destroyed or damaged and so she can’t see through it anymore.
Funny, it’s like it has a signal or something. If it got destroyed, seems like it would hurt! But oh well…
Another thought is that she could use another potato head eye. Like one of Mr. Potato heads “Angry Eyes” lol

Maybe it would force her to be angry. I’ve always wondered though what the point of Mr. Poatato head using them was, he can already make angry expressions with normal eyes…
good point about the angry eyes, anyways mabye mrs. potato heads eye got eaten by buster…just a thought.
If she CAN see all things that happen around her lost eye, maybe it’ll turn into an important plot point. E.G. that it accidentally ended up in one of Andy’s belongings when he went off to college…

I acctualy think she fins it by the end of the movie I mean why no but I think It could be somewhere in with molly’s stuff that get’s donated and then mrs. potato head fns it.

I like the idea of Mrs. Potato Head not having her eye throughout the movie, but every now and then in a scene it might be hidden away somewhere, like you can spot it in a dumpster or somewhere on the ground in the distance when the toys are walking by or something, and in the end she finally finds it. It’d be like a ‘spot the eye’ game for viewers.
In the new trailer, she CAN see through her missing eye.
