Now that we actually know the
names of several characters from the movie, I think it’s time to start playing the "John Ratzenberger
Guessing Game"
So, who do you think will Mr. Ratzenberger voice? Do you think his voice is more
suitable for that of a rat than for a human, or vice versa? One of the recently announced characters, Git,
doesn’t seem to have an actor associated with him yet, so that’s a possibility.
The fact that he has “Rat” and “berger” in his last name leaves
plenty of room for a gag in a movie about rats in a kitchen.

PixarVixen - Hey – you stole that from me!
Yeah, I think it is a
possibility that he voices “Git”, espeically since he has never done any voices for any human in a
Pixar movie as of yet.
And yep – “Rat” and “burger” make a perfect match! How could
you not include him in a film with that name? But…I still thought of it first.
I think he might be the manager for the resturant or
something.

The Star Swordsman -
Interesting speculation. It would certainly be a perfect role for him, if that is the case.
Do you think
that Mr. Ratzenburger will play a vital, headstrong role in the film, or a less important one?
Well, he has always played important roles.

Not always - actually, with the exeption of the Toy Story
films, A Bug’s Life, and Cars, his roles tend to be pretty minor.
Considering that he just played a character with a
considerable amount of screentime in Cars, he probably wouldn’t play a character
who is that important to the story in Ratatouille. But as Meg said, he played pretty
significant characters in the first three Pixar films, so you never know.
Sorry for the double post, but this actually
gives me a wacky idea:
Perhaps, after Remy finds success in cooking (that is, if he actually does), he
would decide to run a restaurant business, calling the place “Rats and Burgers” (a pun on
“Ratzenberger”). Assuming that his role isn’t vital to the story, John Ratzenberger could probably
voice the restaurant’s very first customer.

CountSolo - You know what – that is a very clever
idea. I would love to see that in the film. Heheh – nice thought!
CountSolo: I like that idea. BUt I imagine as Mr. Ratzenburger as more of a crucial role. I
like him as a 1st customer, but I see him more along an important, supporting character.

John will likely have a very minor
role in this film. As mentioned, TS, TS2, ABL and Cars were his big ones and they were all John Lasseter films.
This is a Brad Bird film and John’s role in TI has been his shortest one to date so I isuspect that trend will
continue. =)
I can imagine him voicing a
rat, but a rat with a very short amount of screentime, for the reason that Dash mentions.

Hmmm. I don’t know.
Pixar likes to keep his roles as secret as possible.
I’m not sure but I think he’ll play a rat. And I think
it will be a secondary role. No reason for thinking that but that’s what I got.

Dash - Yes, I agree. Mr. Bird may very well decide to keep Ratzenburger’s role as
minor as possible, or at least just include him as a side/backround character.
I’m sure there will be
other animals featured besides just rats, as well. What about cats and the occasional dog or mouse? Maybe John
will play as one of those creatures instead?
I imagine him as a creature as well.
I think he could be a cat character who helps Remy now and then.
