Which is freakier in TS3?

Didn’t seem to bother Lee Unkrich’s son (if you’ve listened to the Blu-Ray/DVD commentary he’ll say how his son thought it was the best thing in the whole film).

Hmm… For me it was none of them. yeah sure, the monkey was “creepy” but not for me. I just thought he was funny as heck! And Big baby is, to me, really cute. It broke my heart when he said “Mama” and picked up that heart… I feel so sorry for him.

Me too… :frowning: But then he totally kicked butt right after that XD

^ yeah, definately! xD

I’m with ellie-jessie-eve - I’m not crazy about chimps (specifically) to begin with, and that toy is freaky under the best circumstances. The eyes, and the screeching, man, that monkey guard was scary! Yeah, they give him sunglasses at the end and try to make him “cute,” but he’s still that freaky monkey toy!

I like Big Baby - even in his more menacing moments, there was this sweet, pathetic quality to him, and his “creepiness” was part of his appeal. (Of course, I loved Sid’s Mutants in the first movie, too.)

I’m glad I’m not the only one, I don’t see why people think Chimps are so cute. And they’re very vicious…in both reality and toy form!

Monkey. At least the first time.

I liked both characters, but movies don’t scare me.
And Flik-E, I just watched with commentary yesterday!!! It was great, and I jhave a new understanding of the film now.

The monkey was pretty creepy for me.

Monkey! Just remembering his scenes in the movie makes me have to look around behind me

I actually don’t think they were scary at all. I actually thought they were funny throughout the movie.

Monkey. Definitely monkey.

Big Baby mostly looks like he’s been through a lot. He doesn’t look scary just standing there and by the time he is presented as scary rather than merely threatening (the scene where his head rotates 180 degrees), we already know his backstory, so we feel kind of sympathetic to him. He’s scary in that he represents a threat to our heroes at this point, but he really is just an unusually large baby.

The monkey can pretty frightening when he’s not doing anything. Maybe tastes in toys have changed since cymbal monkeys were popular, but I’ve always found them rather creepy. He has those bulging eyes and not so much a smile as exposed teeth. The fact that Big Baby can’t really talk makes him less scary; all of his dialogue beyond “Mama” is just baby noises. The fact that the monkey can’t talk makes him more frightening. The fact that he only emits high pitched screams and hisses makes him seem more like a character who can’t be reasoned with. And he has eyes that pop out of his head when he clashes his cymbals together. There’s a reason he’s wearing shades at the end of the movie. Without them, he’d still look pretty creepy.
