Pixelated, u know that was a great line.
FunnyGirl: You’re not the only one. Some ads make me so mad when they’re done half…well you get what I mean. ![]()
Pixelated: I’ll agree wit you. I love PotA and I hate it when movies spoof it poorly. Only one I could ever stomach was Space Balls.
Do you even know where that line is from? Because if you do, then you have to agree that Madagascar ruined it by toning it down.
“Planet Of The Apes.” And yes, I still think the toning down was funny (cuz they can’t say the real line cuz the movie’s really for kids.)
I will admit that my expectations for the second installment of Madagascar are not high, and yet… they are not exceedingly low either. I did praise the sequel’s predecessor for original character design, fairly humorous moments, and spectacular animation; however, it was not exactly what you’d call a universal success construction-wise. The overall plot was much like a ball bouncing from one trampoline to another, if you’d like to use that particular metaphor, jumping from the viewpoints of Marty to the character of Alex and back again. (My mom was the one who pointed out this significant dent in the story.) Nevertheless, I did enjoy myself while watching the production and still have a blast quoting the film and singing along with King Julian and his cohorts every now and again…
All-in-all, I would gladly pay to see Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa if it receives decent reviews and if the plot-line proves to be admirable at the very least. Although, I must honestly say that the main reason I’d see it is for King Julian – to this day, I have never liked a DreamWorks character’s personality as much as that over-the-top, ring-tailed nut. I blame his design and vain demeanor. Hilarious. (snigger)
Truth be told, though, this is just another DreamWorks sequel; just another avenue for earning a buck or two; and just another piece of eye candy for audiences to chew on. I won’t be shocked if the box office numbers shoot through the roof, but I might be rather surprised if the story proves to be note-worthy.

mitch:
the plot is almost like “Shrek 2” in that we meet Alex’s parents. Thanks 4 being the only one on this thread (besides me, apparently) who is supporting this hilarious motion picture franchise!
TS2 - Eheheh. Well, you’re welcome. I’m probably one of the few out there who actually likes the original Madagascar (to an extent), but that doesn’t mean that I’m chomping at the bit to see its sequel. Nevertheless, I am willing to give it a chance. ![]()
And we meet Alex’s parents? Huh. I didn’t know that…

My entire family loves to laugh and loves to watch movies, so if a comedy movie has a decent plotline and is clean, we’ll load up and go to the theater. The main we reason we’re going to Madagascar 2 is because of the penguins and King Julian ([spoil]“It’s more fun when you hold your hands up in the air!” - You’ll know it if you’ve seen the preview
[/spoil]). Am I looking forward to it? Yep. Am I going to scream and go crazy and run to see it on opening weekend? Nope. But, hey, it’s funny and I’ll have a good time. ![]()
TS2 and Mitch - [spoil]Rumor has it that they crash in Africa, and Alex has to prevent his family from eating his friends. (talk about twisted deja vu) We’ll wait n’ see.[/spoil]
