Who has had their tonsils removed?

Who has had their tonsils removed?

I am

getting my tonsils and adenoids removed November 7, which is the same Day the Cars DVD comes

out.

TLP: I never have and I hope I don?t ever have to. I?ll be praying for you

TLP.

I did, when I was about three or four. I couldn’t breathe properly with my tonsils because

they had become very inflated, so I had the operation and it pretty much solved all of my breathing difficulties.

And they gave me loads of ice cream at the hospital. I wouldn’t worry too much about the operation, TLP- it will

be worth it, and despite the pain for the first few days, most people recover pretty quickly.

Heheh – this reminds me of

that Bill Cosby episode/tape where he described his experience on getting his tonsils removed.

The Good Side of Getting those Tonsils Removed:

1. You’ll have the opportunity to buy the Cars

dvd as a reward.

2. As lizardgirl said, you’ll get ice cream, and hospital

ice cream is SUPERB – it’s the best around…anywhere.

3. The surgery will be over before you know it, you’ll have gotten a good

day’s (or night’s) sleep, and you’ll much more “hip” afterwards!

See? There’s a silver

lining in…well…almost everything! Heheh – I hope all goes well for you on the

seventh of November.

Mitch- Yeah, despite the fact that they would only give

me vanilla ice cream…No chocolate in sight! :open_mouth:

I don’t like vanilla ice cream!!!

lizardgirl - You’re

kidding? At the hospital I went to (several times) I was given a choice of three flavors: chocolate, vanilla,

and/or strawberry!

Texas loves Pixar! - Tough. :stuck_out_tongue:

Heh – I’m

just kidding. So…you don’t like vanilla, huh? That’s too bad. Well, maybe you’ll get a choice of flavors,

too. You never know…

Yeah

but I like cookie and cream!!

Texas - And I love chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, but we’re not gonna get

that, either. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow , is that gonna be a bittersweet day for you . I’m glad I’m practicaly immume to anything that doesn’t

have to do with teeth . As you all know , i almost had to get a root canal ( possibility is no longer there yay !

) and I have 12 cavaties , 8 have already been filled .

The hospital my nana works at has okay ice cream

, but there clam chowder is the best . If only they had mint choc. chip ice cream . yum

I got mine removed June of last year (2005). I was 13 or

so then.

Good luck. I found Slushies felt really good on the throat. XD And they come in lots and lots of

flavors. <3

When I got it done, they told me I shouldn’t have dairy, actually. But that could have

just been for some other reason.

Apprently it takes longer to recover after depending on how old you are

and it probably just depends on yourself, too. It took me a week or so to finally feel better. Sammeh was kinda

listening when they explained these thing to her. XD But it wasover a year ago, so she forgets.

But it’s

all worth it. You won’t have to worry about those annoying tonsils anymore. ^___^

I had mine out when I was 11, it wasn’t bad. My doctors

encouraged me to eat normally after the first day out of surgery, though.

I never had mine taken out. But I always wondered what

tonsils were. If it is something digusting, please don’t tell me.

I’m

suppose to have surgery at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday. They said that I should be able to go home by 9:00 a.m. I

can’t believe they are only keeping me for about an hour after the surgery before sending me home. They said I

can’t eat any hard, crunchy foods for 2 weeks after surgery. I can’t have hot drinks or sodas either. I’m

already thin but I will probably lose more weight during this time.

Texas loves Pixar! - What?

No hot chocolate afterwards? Now that’s just wrong.

I also only had to wait approxiamately one hour

to be released from the hospital when I had nasal surgery. I’ve had five surgeries in my life-time – not

counting the time I had to have eight teeth removed – , so I guess I could call myself a “pro”.

In any case, I’m sure that you will be fine, Texas. Hang in there. Think about the

Cars dvd while you wait to be released from the hospital.

I wonder, why to people give you

so much ice cream after it is taken out? Is it because you were a “very brave patient”?

I’ve never had surgery before but I think the positives do outweigh the negatives

here.

I would like the excuse of being able to lie around eating soft foods. I really need more sleep now

that the school year is really kicking in.

Btw: I think the ice cream is because
a) It’s soft. It’s

easy to swallow
b) It’s cold. Which… may be soothing to poor detonsiled throats
c) You were a good

patient. So the food should at least taste good.

That is what i’m

planning.

TSS-

Mainly because it’s very soothing, and can reduce swelling.

Funnily enough, just yesterday on the radio

in the morning, the presenter was saying that she was due to have her tonsils out later this week, and that

she’s been told that recently, it’s a common trend for hospitals to feed their patients dry toast- no butter,

or anything!- immediately after the operation. Ew. Ice cream sounds better!

lizardgirl - Exactly. That way, the toast will get stuck in one’s throat, causing

the patient to gag with pain and reducing his or her throat to a shrivel; hence, the patient will require more

surgery. More surgery = more cash for the doctors’ pockets. :stuck_out_tongue:

The world is cruel… (sniggers)
