Leirin:Thanks! The quote is from Mort, a Discworld novel. I haven’t actually gotten around to reading it yet, but I plan to. And oh my God, you recognized Duck and Fakir? Wow! They’re pretty obscure.
Thanks IV! I’m glad you like my Mission:Incredible sig, I was elated to watch the new Ghost Protocol trailer, and more so in the knowledge that I made a mash-up of the third film in the franchise with one of Brad Bird’s films two years before they announced he would be the director for Ghost Protocol!
For the uninitiated, you can check out my eerily premonitive trailer by clicking on the link. I will be removing the sig soon, but you can still watch it under my ‘Favourites’ on my Youtube channel!
Also, do check out the links below my sigs for my celebration of Wall-E’s third anniversary! There’s ‘You Know My Name’, one of my first videos posted here and still my most-viewed of all-time, and a brand new pilot for a fanfiction I’ve been planning for a while. It’s a police procedural set in the world of Wall-E, and I would love if you could have a read and drop a comment or two!
I’ll be changing to a Cars 2-related sig and another one (I haven’t decided what to promote next), so stay tuned!
…
I like IV’s ‘Elastigirl’ sig. Is that from ‘The Art of’ book? Who’s the illustrator? Looks familiar… is it Eric Tan?
I also like EJE’s ‘Book of Mormons’ sig. I watched that South Park episode recently, and although most of the claims in their religion is a bit hokey, it had a great message about religious acceptance and not letting it influence which friends you make. I have no idea who that sailor (or admiral?) in the second sig is. And the bottom sig look like three different comics, but I haven’t heard of them before! Perhaps you could provide links to them so I could sample a demo?
Also, I love Leirin’s Pixar mash-up sig! Did you draw that? If not, who did? I’d love to see if this illustrator drew other mash-ups, and it would be courteous to provide acknowledgement to the original creator of the work (unless you drew it, of course, or it’s a screenshot).
Spirit: I also like Spirit’s! Is that a spoof of Austin Powers? Coincidentally, I was thinking of wearing an Austin Powers parody sig I wore a few years ago… stay tuned!
So here’s my Cars screenshot sig. It’s one of the high-res images from The Pixar Times that I resized down. I’m just enamoured with Holly at the moment, I didn’t expect to like her as much as I did after watching the film. I thought this image of her with a startled expression and being flanked by two angry British ‘bobbies’ looks really cool, and this comes at the thrilling finale of the movie!
Oh yeah, you might want to click the link to my review if you’re curious. I have some pretty interesting things to say about my experience of the film (well, I hope!). Also check out my Wall-E police drama fanfic and the other fanworks if you have the time.
I LOVE that episode! It’s defintely one of my favorites, and as you mentioned, it had a great message. The Mormon kid’s speech at the end about religious freedom and acceptence was brilliant, but what else can one expect from Matt & Trey?
Speaking of which, have you heard of their musical TDIT? I defintely recommend it, the whole soundtrack is on youtube. It has Tony Award winning music, a great story, and the classic South Park philosophic discussion and the classic South Park shock factor!
Here’s a scene from the Tony Awards- I Believe
The second sig is from a webcomic I’ve been reading. It features founding father Alexander Hamilton when he was a Captain of the Artillary during the American Revolution.
And I’ve been meaning to provide links for the comics for a while, I’ll do it now and have it in my sig! But yes, they’re webcomics.
The first, ‘The Dreamer’ is about a modern teenaged girl who when she sleeps, has elaborate dreams about the American Revolution. So it’s like she’s leading two lives.
The second ‘Battle of Dovecote Crest’ is about American Civil War reanactors.
And the third, ‘The Paul Reveres’ is a retelling of Paul Revere’s ride, only instead of a war with guns, it’s a war with rock and roll.
