I agree, and it was a very brave road for Pixar to take, considering nearly all past
Disney movies, which all feature the antagonist/protagnist theme throughout, and usually, the whole stroryline
will be focused on this. With Pixar, on the other hand, good guys vs. bad guys is just a little part of a large
story- as it should be!

Yes, indeed. This is what makes Pixar so unique from
other studios/companies: They have their own, effective style.
Add to that the
unbroken winning streak that they have:)
Of course, their streak is simply a direct consequence of the
“effective style” that you mentioned. I’m pretty sure (and I certainly hope) that it wouldn’t end
with Ratatouille. Who knows? Maybe it will never end… Improbable, I know. But
whoever said having seven consecutive brilliant movies wasn’t improbable?
BTW: Auguste Gousteaou is man, isn’t he?
And I’m wondering if they’re gonna be more human main characters.

Ratatouille!!! I can’t wait!!

Well, Auguste Gusteau is voiced by
Brad Garrett, who is a man, so… need I say more?
EDIT: I completely neglected the possibility that by
“man”, you might have meant “person”. If that were the case, then the answer is yes, Auguste
Gusteau is a human being.

Mmm…yes, I quite agree. Their reputation for hitting the ball out of the
park is high, and I don’t expect their enthusiasm and love of making successful films will end anytime soon.
Disney used to be like them…when the great man himself was still around. They made astonishing film after
astonishing film. Too bad it’s not like that now, huh? (sigh)
Well, let’s
hope the increased influence from John Lasseter, et al. can change that.

Yes, indeed. So far, he’s cut off all the Disney sequels. At least he is doing
his job over there; you’ve gotta hand him that.

Yeah. That’s what I meant.
And I still wonder, if there are going to be
more rat characters than humans in the movie. Your thoughts?
Personally, I’d think that only the rats will be
REAL characters, if you know what I mean.

More or less like Finding Nemo. P. Sherman
and Darla and all were there and all, but they were definitely secondary characters. Yeah, I see Ratatouille
being the same way.

I dunno - the chef seems to be a pretty substantial
character. This could be a new step for Pixar to have animals and humans together in a setting that works!
Wait Dash, what about the fish in Finding Nemo
in the dentist setting?

They never
interacted with any meaning though. At best they just played the role of fish and human and generally action
took place between just the humans or just the animals. This may be a case where we actually have animals and
humans conciously working with one another - especially if Remy is personified to the chef as well as to the
audience.

Dash: I agree. From the looks of it, Ratatouille will
be the first Pixar film to feature/include animal-human interactions. According to a certain “source”
– via the internet – , Remy creates an award winning soup, which raises the star-rating of the restaurant (and
the chef) even higher.
However, since I forgot where I found this information, I’m not sure if it is
entirely accurate. It probably is true, but I won’t say any more here…just in case I’m wrong.
Hmm, that would be an
interesting route to take…It would make more sense, though, for the chef to have more of a developed part.
Yeah, I’d really like to see that in a Pixar film, especially as it hasn’t been done before.
