Who is this "Vermin"?

Before I start ranting,

here is the link:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratatouille_%28film%29

Now, scroll down to the

Cast section and look for the newcomer on the block. Notice him? Apparantly, there

will be a character – a rat, more than likely – named “Vermin”, voiced by Adam Scott, in the film

Ratatouille.

I wonder who this guy is? It obviously must be some sort of

rodent. Another rat, or a different sort of furry friend or foe? A mouse, perhaps? Personally, I’d like to think

of this “Vermin” character as Remy’s arc-enemy. But that’s just me. Heck, maybe it’s a

“she”. :stuck_out_tongue:

What are your thoughts on the matter?

P.S. I’ve also noticed

that Ian Holm has been taken off the Cast list. He’s still mentioned a little

further down in the References section, however. Just something to remember on your

visit to Wikipedia. :unamused:

Yeah I noticed that a few days ago.

Awesome! I’m not the only one who noticed…

Thanks for posting a reply so

quickly! I didn’t expect that…

Though being voiced

by Adam Scott I doubt it. =P

Aha! I

didn’t think about that…

I was thinking of writing a book: The Stupidity of Mitch and

How She Handles It :stuck_out_tongue:

I

think this Vermin character, maybe based on his name, is supposed to be maybe the antagonist in the story. I

think he want’s to keep Remy from his dream from becoming a chef.

That would be interesting TSS.

The Star

Swordsman: My point exactly. He may be a member of Remy’s family – one who disapproves of

Remy’s becoming a chef. Or perhaps he is a human character with the nick-name “Vermin”…? Whatever

the case, we shall find out as June 29 comes closer and closer…

I doubt that he is a human character. But you could be right. For a second, I thought

his name was going to be Vernon instead of Vermin. I guess if you combine the names Vernon and Herman, you get

Vermin, with a different spelling.

Does anybody know if Adam Scott has a villain sounding voice?
Because Vermin could be (as you

guys have all ready said) a villain rat or something.

Vernon from

Harry Potter mixed with Baby Herman from Roger Rabbit?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Ha – ok…sorry. That just…put a weird picture into my mind… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, it does sound

similar. Heh.

Here is the definition(s) of vermin from

Yahoo:

ver

min

NOUN:
pl.

vermin

 1. Various small animals or insects, such as rats or cockroaches, that

are destructive, annoying, or injurious to health.
2. Animals that prey on game, such as foxes or

weasels.
3.
a. A person considered loathsome or highly

offensive.
b. Such people considered as a

group.

You want my opinion? I think Vermin is a cockroach. Cockroaches are

commonly found in the kitchen scavenging for food, and they’re repulsive. A cockroach would be a better fit as

a villain than another rat. And then there would be a tie-in to A Bug’s Life.

And did you stop to

think that Remy could be labeled as vermin, too? He is a rat after all.

:stuck_out_tongue:

~~=oP

Let’s look at it objectively:

 1. This info turned up on Wikipedia.
 2. Anybody can

edit a wiki.
3. None of the sources for Ratatouille make mention to Vermin.

My Judgement: Fake until

proven otherwise.

Update: I’ve looked at Ratatouille’s history on Wikipedia, and see the edit made about

Vermin was made by an anonymous user. This strikes me as possible Vandalism.

Hmm, I’m not sure…If there really is this Vermin character, then he sounds pretty

interesting. I’ve been curious as to whether Pixar would be going down that good guys/bad guys route with

Ratatouille, and Vermin gives us a clue. Then again, it could just be fake.

Man, look what I

started!

In your post, you copied this

definiton:

Let us hope that Remy is none

of those things that I “boldy” highlighted. :stuck_out_tongue: Remy seems like a respectable enough rat

that he wouldn’t make himself appear to be any of those things (with the exception of stealing food from the

kitchens… ).

But yes, that is interesting, PixarVixen. I agree with you concerning your opinion that

this fabled “Vermin” could be a cockroach. It sure would fit the

descriptions you labeled, not to mention, he would definitely make a rather nasty villian for the plot!

RMS - True…true. There is a possibilty that it could be vandalism.

However, as you said, “fake until proven otherwise”. Innocent until proven

guilty…

lizardgirl - So have I. Noticeable in almost every Pixar film is

an apparent antagonist/protagonist show-down or appearance throughout (the movies): The toys vs. Sid; Flik vs.

Hopper; The Incredibles vs. Syndrome, etc… However, the conflict between villain and hero in Pixar films seems

to be very subtly exposed; at least, it is to me. Their bad guys are evil and menacing, yet mysterious,

intriguing, and self-centered. And the heroes are just the opposite of intimidating, yet they are also mysterious

in their own way(s). It’s a nice style/pattern throughout the Pixar films. I love it.

This was

actually just a semantic error on an editor’s behalf. Someone forgot to add “”, so one of

the reference tags didn’t close until the second appeared. On behalf of all Pixar fans, I decided

to fix the error.

Nothing major, but I thought you guys/girls might want to

know…

Actor Adam Scott, best known for his roles in the films ?The Aviator? and

?Monster-In-Law?, is working on Brad ?The Incredibles? Bird?s new film, ?Ratatouille?.

The film, which

tells of a young rat living within the walls of a famous Paris bistro who attempts to obtain the finest of Paris

food and luxury, as opposed to the meagre lifestyles his family and friends seem content with, also features Brad

Garrett, Janeane Garafolo and Brian Dennehy.

No word on which character Scott, who next appears opposite

Sarah Michelle Gellar in ?The Return?, is lending his lungs to yet.

Okay, we know Adam Scott’s in Ratatouille, but still no confirmation/denial of

“Vermin”…

I don’t think they will

announce his character that early…

Why, thank you for

taking the priviledge to correct the error, CountSolo. I thought something was

wrong there…

Marty17: Hmm. Well, at least it seems official now. All we

have to do is wait and see what type of character he will play.
