Who loves Pixar's artists in your family ?

Everybody in my family loves Pixar . How

about yours ?

Nobody, sadly. It’s not their thing. shrugs Oh well, I still make them watch

a Pixar movie the second we buy it from the store, hehe.

Mmm . . . my brother and myself. He pretty much likes the

fact that they’re all nuts . . . and how that’s essesntially their philosophy!

My Mum’s quite keen on Pixar, which is good, but apart from that, no-one.

My family enjoys Pixar but they aren’t

nearly as obsessed as I am. At least now though they can all identify at least 2/3 of The Holy Trinity and I’m

also pretty sure they all know Brad Bird on sight.

Let’s see, I know a

bunch of PIXAR names, but I’m not so sure who’s the Holy Trinity?? John Lasseter’s a given, right? But who

else?

Andrew Stanton
Ed Catmull
Steve Jobs
Brad Bird
Joe Ranft
Bob Peterson
Glenn

McQueen
John Ratzenburger
Ralph Eggleston
Jan Pinkava
Bud Luckey
Pete Doctor

The ones on

top I think are more likely, but that’s all I can think of!

The Holy Trinity - Steve Jobs, Ed Catmull, John Lasseter

My family really enjoys them, although no one is as geeky as me when it comes to

Pixar in my family.

Hi!

First post.

My 3 year old is who got me into Pixar. My mom gave him a Nemo DVD for his 1st birthday.

We didn’t even unwrap it until he was over 18 months old…but he was instantly hooked. I soon

followed.

Even he knows John Lasseter. When we watch DVD extras, he says ā€œJohn Lasseterā€. He

then says ā€œJohn Lasseter rules.ā€

John Lasseter DOES rule!

Yes, that’s a good thing to instill in your children

as young as possible. I’m pretty sure my kids will be growing up on Pixar movies, too - once I have

kids, that is.

Most of my family loves Pixar. My mom’s not as into movies, much less Pixar, as my dad and

sisters are, but she enjoys sitting down with us to watch ā€œFinding Nemoā€ or such. It’s mostly my

sister Shannon and I who are really into it. She wants to work for Pixar, and I’m just an intense admirer of

their movies and ā€œcorporate philosophyā€ (i.e. the scooters, tiki rooms, giant paper airplane contests,

etc.).

I’m really the only one.

My parents think the fact that I’m a fanatic is cool and all, but my mom hadn’t seen Monsters, Inc. until the

six days leading up to Cars (just take a guess as to what I did :unamused:), and I’m not completely sure whether my

dad really thinks that it’s called the ā€œMystic Pizza Truckā€ or if he’s just feigning ignorance, and

my brother can’t understand why you’d want to see any movie more than once a year, much less more than once in

theaters. (My brother is a big Fleabie fan, though.)

To tell the truth, I’ve only met one person

offline who’s anywhere near as big a Pixar fan as I am.

Everyone in my family is kind of ā€œforcedā€ to like Pixar because we have a

family member who works there. But I am probably the only one that is totally obsessed with the Incredibles.

Haha! ā€œForcedā€. I like the way you put that. But hey, at least

you can be proud to know that you’re a dedicated fan!

As for me? Well,

my whole family loves Pixar. Heck, my dad has some ā€œbuddiesā€ over there, even though I’ve never met

any of them. He knows John Lassseter, was a friend of Joe Ranft, and knows a couple of other guys that work at

the studio. (Hopefully, I’ll get to meet them one of these days…)

Wow, that’s

amazing, Mitch! And yeah, it’d be really great to meet them…A good excuse to suck up to your Dad and see what

he can do!

Haha! ā€œSuck upā€! I love these phrases you guys think up.

Yeah,

maybe I can get my dad to give in…

Everyone in my family, both my real family and my ā€œfamilyā€ of friends here at

school, enjoys Pixar. I’m the biggest Pixar junkie of the lot of us (else I wouldn’t have torn my hair out

trying to get everything together for my internship application last year), but there’s a good deal of Pixar

love. And my friends all listen to me talk about ā€œOMG LOOK AT THOSE NURBS!!!ā€ and such.

Ed

Catmull has splines named for him. This clearly makes him awesome. And Catmull splines do cool things, though

I’ve worked with Bezier splines more. Yaaay, splines. For now, however, I need to buckle down and work with

GL_TRIANGLES. :unamused:

So yes. Most all of my friends will sit down and watch Pixar films with me. I

showed one of my really good friends Monsters, Inc. for the first time this summer, and it made me happy. I love

being able to introduce my friends to awesome films.
