Everything comes in threes. It’s a magic number, and I don’t really think even Pixar would want to tempt the fates for a 4 & 5, nice though it might be. This was just such a strong idea for a set of films that it deserved a third.

I hope Toy Story 3 is the last one for a very long time. I don’t want it to be stretched into another “shrek” or something similar. With every sequel there is a chance a movie may fail greatly. I love Toy Story but I don’t want it to be overdone.
Indeed. Toy story is Pixar’s most brilliant work in my opinion, but I prey it doesn’t get ruined by unnecessary sequels that depict things you never wished happened. Maybe something like a 30-minute special, showing them with Andy’s kids or whatever, having a little fun adventure, or a holiday special, first Christmas without Andy…but not a full blown theatrical release, no thanks.
I feel three movies is enough for Toy Story. Considering the age Andy is at in Toy Story 3, I really don’t see how Pixar could take this story any further. Yep, three is good enough for me.
SURE, I’d Love a Toy Story 4 and 5! And while PIXAR’s at it, why not make them Direct to Video Sequels as well?
Well, I was gonna reply with “NO.” but it looks like I’ve been beat to it by a long shot… by several people. Wow. Actually, maybe we could be a little less harsh on the guy folks? It was just a well meaning suggestion. xD;;
Anyways, I have no doubt Pixar could make 5 great TS films if they wanted to, but… I feel like there’s something more special about Toy Story by not letting it become a crazy cash cow with a Land-Before-Time number of films. A trilogy feels just right IMO.
Good idea!
No. Please no.
Like Pixar themselves would say, only if it has a story for a backbone.
But personally, my undying love for Woody would press me to see them anyway, no matter what the reviews say!
…that was sarcasm. Honestly though, as much as I love the Toy Story series, I wouldn’t want a 4th or 5th film. One of my main concerns about TS3 is that Toy Story is being subjected to sequelitis, and even though following sequels could be amazing, somehow they would lose their originality if they were overdone. I do not want the films to become like Shrek or Ice Age.
However, instead of a sequel I think Toy Story would be great to continue as shorts, like Cars. I’d love to see more Toy Story Treats, or even a short film included on the blu ray/dvd. Just not a full feature.
EDIT- Please don’t use quotes within quotes, thanks!

Exactly. I’m sure Pixar will still make some shorts now and then (probably from that new Canada studio we heard about). Those Toy Story Treats were pretty fun to watch themselves, so I know the characters can still be entertaining that way.
I’m sure 3 will be enough.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a 4th and a 5th (of course, if it was Pixar), but I’m pretty sure the third one will have a good conclusion. If they made a TV series, they probably wouldn’t have the real voices, which would ruin it. I’m happy with anything to do with Toy Story, and if they were to release a couple more movies, they would have to have brilliant stories, other wise they wouldn’t release them. I think the third film will be the last ever of the Toy Story franchise.
Hmm…well, it’s not like a 4th or 5th would be necessarily be bad because I could watch Woody and Buzz and Rex forever, but I agree with most everyone on here - the movies should stop at 3. I also don’t see Pixar as being the type of studio to roll out a gazillion sequels. Maybe they should create a TV show to continue their adventures instead
