lennonluvr9 - I believe that windchimes is referring to the “olden days” of Disney Animation Studios…when John Lasseter departed from the company and went off to eventually form Pixar Animation Studios with several others.
I, personally, don’t like the idea of Lasseter not directing Toy Story 3.
I’ll take any Pixar movie, but Toy Story 3 won’t be as classic because it’s being released more than 8 years apart from the others and isn’t directed by John.
At least it’s Pixar. But I too, am a bit concerned with Lee Unkrich being the sole director, he’s always seemed like a great co-director, but I don’t know as director. Maybe if he gets a good co-director, then we should be good. I would have prefered it if Brad Bird took the reigns from John Lasseter, which could still happen, but Unkrich is still great. Sorry, I don’t mean to sound a little critical, I loved Toy Story 1 & 2, and really can’t wait for the third one, as long as it’s Pixar.
Lee Unkrich is amazing, and I believe he’ll make Toy Story 3 really awesome. I don’t think Brad Bird is fit for TS3, I mean, he wasn’t there for TS2. It would just be weird.
I wasn’t really complaining, just said of the main guys at Pixar, including Mr. Lasseter, he’s not my top choice. Of course I have all the faith in the world that he’ll do a great job, especially since he did co-direct Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo. Just saying he’s about the third choice, after Lasseter and Bird, but since neither are avalible, he’s the man for the job. Again, sorry to sound like I was complaining, I really wasn’t, honestly!
Martin: I have to agree with you. Although Brad would definitely make it a great film, it would be “weird”, since it most likely wouldn’t be similar to Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Mister I: I know.
Again, Brad’s a great director, but Toy Story is not, will not, and can not, be his movie. it just seems wrong, he can help out and end up in the special thanks section of the credits, but Toy Story 3 is a movie from before his arrival so I don’t think he would even consider, for respect.
I was quite surprised to know that John Lasseter was not directing Toy Story 3. Of course Lee Unkrich co-directed Toy Story 2 (also co-directed Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo) and I am sure he will do an awesome job continuing the legacy of the Toy Story franchise.
But considering how Toy Story was always John Lasseter’s baby and since he was on board to direct Cars, I just assumed he would take on the director’s chair, if not sole director then atleast co-directing it again.
I guess since now he is the Chief Creative Officer of both Pixar and Disney, it will be quite a while before he returns to directing, Cars 2 perhaps.
lol I love The Incredibles and everything, but after getting Brad on board on Toy Story 3 as director, you could expect it to take a real different turn of style compared to the two predecessors.
I’m thinking explosions, involvement of robots, smart-er dialogue - oh, and possibly a PG rating as well, which is not a good thing - for Toy Story.
But hey, J.J. knew nothing (or not much) about Star Trek and I think he did a pretty nice job, but I digress…
