And yet they never talk about the lies made up about Palin. Funny.
what lies???
here’s baldwin
BALDWIN: The thing we have to remember, a friend of mine who is very close to the financial community in New York pointed out that Democrats have a lot of the responsibility for this as well. I mean, it was Clinton who killed the Glass-Steagall, and it happened under a Democratic president. Barney Frank and his committee, they, they kept propping up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac saying everything’s fine, everything’s fine, everything’s good. And it was his job to know everything wasn’t fine. And Barney Frank let you down and let us down as well. But I want to say that there’s blame to go, but I keep maybe beating this to death but I still think anyone in this congress who voted to add $140 billion to that, that they should be ashamed of themselves. That is a disgrace.
Whoa… that was one long quote there.
How come a candidate can, day after day, spout something that is purposefully untrue?
I did it to make the point that a certain percentage of people can and do believe lies when they are told. And because I was mimicing what I’ve seen the McCain campain do on a daily basis over the last few months. If you want to know the truth, I was originally going to write that it was a “well-known fact that McCain travelled back in time to fight against the US in World War I” as my example of a baseless smear, but figured the time-travel thing sounded a bit too cheezy.
And don’t be hard on yourself. Even though we have vastly different views, I’m actually quite impressed that you’re this interested in, and concerned with politics at 15. I’m glad to see that. Just remember to keep your mind open. I have my own views of course, but I actually don’t like listening to shows that are solely in one camp (liberal or conservative) because to me, they’re just a bunch of highly-paid entertainers making people angry in order to get a good paycheck. What I like are when you get two people of opposing views, and put them on against each other. Every once in a while, you’ll hear the other side and say “hm… you know, he’s got a point there.”
Just as the NY Times has a liberal opinion page but a strict firewall to their news division, the Wall Street Journal has a conservative opinion page, but a strict firewall between their editorial board and their newsroom. Which is a way of saying that even though I don’t care for the WSJ’s editorials most of the time, I definitely do respect their news reporting. The problem comes when a paper happens to report something that is true, but someone doesn’t like it being published. All of a sudden it’s “they’re in the tank for the other guy.” If the NY Times publishes an editorial critical of McCain, I expect that. It’s a liberal editorial board. But their news is first-rate and absolutely solid. The same (in reverse) with the WSJ. Their editorials are staunchly conservative, and I expect that. But like other top papers of the country, they keep a firewall between the editorial room and the newsroom, and their reporting is first-rate as well. In fact, while I don’t anymore (because I have too much to read!) I actually subscribed to the WSJ for a couple years because I liked their reporting.
I’m so voting McCain. Since I think Obama doesn’t have enough experience in leadership to run this Country. And since I registered to vote today. I can legally vote this year. (FYI, I registered as a Republican.)
yah how come…both candidates are doing it and the american people can’t wake up to that!!!
Our economy sucks and Obama only wants to bail it our more…
Where is he going to get tax breaks from…(inflation issues)
Our economy is going down the drain and all the politics want to do is get more control…why!
Over newspapers-How do you know that all of the WSJ is conservative?
At my age anything that looks good is good…if Obama promises tax breaks and increase in spending i don’t like it. Do i like McCain…not really! if i were to vote i would vote; Jesus!! McCain sucks and his political campaign is rather whinpy for a maverick but if we choose Barrack it will become a disaster.
Prediction-If Barrack becomes president me and my family will just try to survive for four years!!
I agree with Al-Bob. There where better candidates, but people didn’t vote for them
Didn’t McCain only enter the candidate run only because his daughter made a scene, chasing away the other rival candidates or something like that? If I have to choose, my vote’s on Obama.
uhhh…i never heard that one…where did you hear that?
My friend told me about it. He said that his daughter said something bad about the other running candidates and they got so appalled by what she said they decided to drop out. shrugs My friend wouldn’t lie about such a thing, so the truth must be somewhat close to that.
i’ll look it up…from what i heard his daughter encouraged him but didn’t start bashing other candidates to get him there…which daughter was it?
Whoa! How many daughters does this guy have?! I wouldn’t know, one of them, I guess. xD
I’m sure it was just something she said that got out into the news or something.
well he has 3 i think…so if its any of them then i don’t think it was pure truth…unless your friend forgot.
sorry double post
Just searched and couldn’t find anything…
Well, you might want to do some digging before putting so much trust on this guy, first. After all, he’s running to run your life.
Edit:
I’m sure you missed it or something. I’m positive my friend is not wrong about this; he’s rarely wrong.
Seriously, who is singing the American anthem? Perhaps Obama isn’t saluting because he doesn’t know what song is being sung.
But seriously, is there a reason why he didn’t salute? I’m sure he wasn’t doing it just to make a statement.
He is running for the oval office…which president has not-saluted or sung the national anthem?
If your country had an election and the favored one didn’t show any signs of supporting the nation would you think him a patriot…
I sing the national anthem and sometimes cry becuase it represents something to me!
Doesn’t know what song??? very funny lizard but not very good for a presidential candidate…
Yah his statement is that saluting is so American…he is change!
“My grandfather taught me when I was 2. During the Pledge of Allegiance, you put your hand over your heart. During the national anthem, you sing.”

OH no! He wasn’t wearing a flag pin either!
Here’s the defition of patriot. "a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion. " Nothing in there about needing to wave the flag every chance they get. I judge a person’s patriotism by their actions not empty gestures.
““Beware of the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry, [who] infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so.””
