I understand why he wrote it on buzz and woody. They were his favorite toys.
But, he did write it on woody and bullseye when he first got them.
why couldn’t he have wrote it on rex or slinky etc…
Maybe because he never took rex, ham etc outside… so he could not lose them.
dun forget abt bullseye n jessie…
Yeah, Andy seemed to take Woody to certain places and put his name on Woody’s boot. When Buzz became his new favorite, Andy did the same. It can only be said that Jessie and Bullseye became some of Andy’s favorites as well. The others were never taken beyond the front yard.
With Buzz and Woody, it’s the whole favorite thing. For Jessie and Bullseye, I think the filmmakers just wanted to very quickly show Andy lovingly taking them in. Sure they showed Andy playing with them, but I think they really wanted to hit it on us hard so they made it very obvious.
I agree.
My Mom would want to label my things when I was outside the house, so that if things got lost, they would know who they belonged to.
We’re talking about a woman who used a fine-tip pen to put my name on the ends of the wrappers of my crayons when I went to school.

There was one scene with Andy playing with Buzz flying along side Jessie galloping on Bullseye. Woody was in the background with Andy’s other toys huddled together.
I’ve gotta agree with what a bunch have already said. There’s a lot of time between the end of TS2 to the beginning of TS3, and the way Andy goes streight to playing with Jessie and Bullseye alongside the Sheriff and the Space Ranger, I’ve always thought that they were considered the same, the ones Andy would take with him. Thus, needing the names.
