- The story is not original. It’s based on Seven Samurai. We want original!!
Well, that may be true, but it’s still a good movie, in my opinion. And no movie is original. Everything is inspired.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore Bug’s Life, and since I haven’t watched Seven Samurai yet, I don’t give a damn about one story based on another. But some people do get up in arms about it. I mean let’s face it, many claimed Cars was a Doc Hollywood ripoff and instantly write it off. I mean for crying out loud, Doc Hollywood wasn’t even that good.
Ah, I understand. That makes sense. ![]()
And Three Amigos. They have the same basic storyline (that’s been around forever). But each has it’s own flavor!
Never seen this one either. Now that I know the storyline, chances are I’m not going to watch it in the future either.
I’d recommend Three Amigos, that movie is fricken’ hilaroius.
I love Three amigos. But haven’t seen Seven Samurai.
Neither have I, but I want to see it eventually.
Personally, I don’t understand why any of Pixar’s movies are considered to be underrated. Sure a Pixar movie may be underrated in Pixar terms, but if you zoom out to take a look at anything else out there, one would see that even Pixar’s worst is still a billion times better than any ol’ regular movie.
I’m not saying A Bug’s Life is Pixar’s Worst, because I personally don’t think any of Pixar’s movies is any of their worst. They’re all equal in my eyes, but some of them appeal to different hearts.
I think it’s a shame when one makes excessively rude comments towards any of Pixar’s movies because none of them are bad movies.
I do agree that A Bug’s Life seemed to have faded, which is a shame because I like it a lot.
I completely agree with Jess.
Yeah, I agree too. I think ABL has been ignored, but not as much as say Antz. People often think they’re the same movie. Even like Bee Movie is less liked than ABL, and it’s much more recent.
A Bug’s life in my honest opinion is has always been the weakest Pixar film. It just lacks the Pixar magic, intelligence, and charm that made all the other movies works of art, (well, except for Cars)
I think the more their movies don’t include humans, the better they are. Their best movies are the ones with barely if not no humans at all.
Um, that’s a little harsh.
I don’t think ABL or Cars are bad.
That’s debatable, Jess.
I really think Up is way up there, and it primarily has humans.
Yeah Up is one of those movies thats pulls at your heart strings especially when Carl kinda takes over as Russel’s Father figure. So gotta agree with IV that its way up there.
Seriously, you can put any type of character in UP’s story and it’ll be just as good.
I’m not saying their worst are the ones with humans, I just think the most effort and detail are the ones with the least amount of humans. That’s where Pixar’s talents of detail come into play, which is what I think people forget.
^ NO way i think if you would put lets say a car or a bug in UP’s story it would not hit home as much as it did with humans.
I guess that makes sense. I’m just having difficulty processing this because I usually like the ones with more(Up, The Incredibles) or less(Toy Story series, Ratatouille, Wall-E) human involvement. I still love ABL and cars(probably as much as Ratatouille and Wall-E.). I just have difficulty visualizing that the animal or machine-based ones are better. However, if you mean it would be more difficult to make a movie about cars or bugs or robots, then I agree with that. Well, making them good, not silly movies anyway.
Please, I think I recall a certain movie about toys and a sad sobby story. You know, with almost no humans.
You can put any character in that type of movie and it’ll be as sweet.
