Read the
introduction below the Welcome âsignâ, and I think your questions will be
answered. ![]()
In a nutshell, itâs a website specifically for those projectionists who exhibited
Cars in their theaters. I believe there was even a contest concerning who
âshowed offâ the best quality film of Cars.
Is it a Pixar site or just a Cars site? Cause all I am seeing is Cars.
Luxo Jr. (bawpcwpn) at Upcoming Pixar ran an article on
this site recently.
Basically what it is is that like any Pixar movie - no matter how much quality they
put into the film, itâs only as good as the quality of projection being shown (picture AND sound). Therefor,
Pixar put together this special page telling theaters exactly what to do to get the best quality - sharing their
philosphy about how important quality is as opposed to a fast buck. Of course as with all things Pixar though
they found new and exciting way to make the process fun and entertaining. And what better than a contest -
especially with THAT kind of prize! =D
Oh thatâs pretty cool, I canât remember being able to
get to it from the Pixar site though, but thanks for clearing it all up Dash. I wonder many actually read it,
maybe a link came with the reels to the site. ![]()
Thatâs kinda the cool part - there is no link from the site. They sent the
individual links out with the film and it has since leaked out to us. Whatâs really cool though is that Pixar
does this alot. There are several known sections of the site that are awesome but you canât access them from
links on the site. Theyâre hidden and you have to just play around with words but typically theyâre only given
out to select, special groups that require access. Sometimes it leaks out to us though and you just have to fave
those pages. Some are really spectacular. =)
Youâre kidding? Myself
being an expert easter egg hunter, Iâll definitely have to check that out. Maybe Iâll find somethingâŠ

Dash, you must send me some links dude. ![]()
Would you be allowed to post a list of links to these parts?
I like the way they make
it techincally public without resorting to usernames or passwords. So we can glimpse the magic if weâre
technically astute enough.
Yeah, and I completely anticipate Dashâs reply
now.

I donât see why not, being on the internet it is
technically public domain and actually the projectionest site posted above is the only one Iâve ever seen that
was specifically for certain group only. Iâm not at my computer right now but Iâll try to track down my list
this weekend⊠although I may have some of them stored on my computer at home in which case it could be a couple
weeks.
In all honesty though I got most of them through Upcoming Pixar and Luxo - so check through their
archives and you may find them yourself. Thereâs really only 3 or 4 total that I know of. =)
Dash - Well, if you do find
those files (and that list) of yours, weâd be more than happy to view them. Iâll also check Upcoming Pixar for
those archives of theirs. Thanks for the information, Dash. ![]()
Yeah,
thatâs great Dash, you are the man. LOL.
PM me or reply on the thread when you got them and thanks.
The website makes a good point. Projectionists are
important to the âmovie watching experienceâ. My 6th viewing of Cars (I know, I am a sad, obsessed
Pixar fan) was at a free movie night at the University of Florida. The screen was blurry and the cars were
squashed into weird proportions. It made it hard for me to enjoy the viewing. It is an important aspect of movie
making that we should learn to consider more often!
