Will it end up like A Bug’s Life since "Flushed

Away" is coming out around the same time?

It mite be to late but it really depends how good Ratatouille really is.

I was recently thinking about this very

topic myself, as a matter of fact. I suppose that it is too soon to judge whether or not

Ratatouille is being released later than is wise. However, Pixar being very thorough

concerning the quality of their productions, I wouldn’t be surprised to know that the real reason they are

post-poning it for so long is because the film requires a little more “touching up” before its eventual

release – if that is indeed the case.

Personally, I don’t care how long it takes for it to come

out…as long as I actually get to see the thing. But yeah, I would have liked it to come out sooner. But, oh

well.

No.

Just because of the fact that the designs of the movies are completely different (W&G style vs. Cartoonie

rats, but more realistic), there is a loooooong time between them (Antz and Bug’s Life were just one and a half

months away form each other) and the movie themes are different too. (Antz and Bug’s Life didn’t had that, but

FA: Rat City under the streets; Ratatouille: Rat in Paris, who wants to become a chef.

I don’t think so, to be

honest. Everyone will see Flushed Away, simply because of the success of Wallace and Gromit, but there is such a

large gap between the two that even those who saw Flushed Away will still be tempted to see Ratatouille.

I mean, no doubt that Ratatouille will come off strong,

but I thin kalot of people might be thinking “Oh gosh andother CG rat movie”.

lizardgirl - Exactly –

there is so much time in between the two that people probably won’t get tired of seeing two rodent-related

movies in a row.

AJD08 - Mmm…they might not. Judging by the fact that Pixar

Animation Studios has such a successful track record, I have no doubt Ratatouille

will do considerably well at the box office.

Nah, I think

Ratatouille will do fine even though it’s released the same time as ‘Flushed Away’

“The Same Time”? You call December '06

and July '07 (UK Dates) the same time?

They’ll both be fine. Deep Impact and Armageddon both did well,

didn’t they? And they were way more similar than these two.

I’m not sure about too late. In

my opinion, I don’t think Ratatouille will be as good as Flushed Away, but it will be a good competitor.

The Star Swordsman - How can

you say that? :open_mouth:

Heh – well, I guess I shouldn’t point fingers myself. I recently saw

Flushed Away and, even though it was admirably good, I

still have faith in Ratatouille. The film itself being in the hands of Pixar, I

don’t doubt that it will rank quite high in the list of acceptable features – even higher than

Flushed Away, I imagine. I hope…

You are right Mitch. We can’t really say anything yet. Only Flushed Away was

released. We haven’t even watched Ratatouille yet. BUt since Flushed Away was so good, it might be hard to

match.

The Star Swordsman -

Heheh – yes, it might be a little difficult to compete with, Flushed Away being a

Aardman picture. However, Pixar has never failed me yet…

Ratatouille will have its

strong points. Some even better than Flushed Away. I too have faith in Pixar, Mitch. They will pull something

incredible off.

The Star

Swordsman - You bet they will.

What I’m worried is Flushed Away better than the Pixar movie Cars.

Pul-lease ! Like that will ever happen ! This is Dreamworks v.s. Pixar

here.
Just like chick vs. the king , it’s obvious who’s on top !

TSS- I do see your point. Over here, Cars wasn’t as popular as it should have

been, despite its Pixar tag. But that in itself confirms that most of the time, the audience generally don’t

know about the different companies, so they don’t purposefully go to see a movie because it’s made by a company

they know- they just see it because it looks good, (or not, as the case may be, depending.)

I dont think it’s too

late. Of course I cant judge it against flushed away because A) I dont plan on seeing Flushed Away and B)

Ratatouille isnt out yet.

Now that I think of it Ratatouille will not be late at all. I think it will do very good in

theaters.

I don’t even care to see Flushed Away. I have already saw one DreamWorks animation film in

theaters this year (Over the Hedge) and it was a real disappointment. The only DreamWorks film I?m looking

forward to see is ?Kung Fu Panda? that comes out 6/6/08.
