Will it fail because it’s been such a long time since the second

one, or will it be a success?

Nah – I think

it’ll be fine. I don’t care how long it takes, just as long as it turns out to be a spectacular film…which

I’m sure it will be.

However, I realized only too late that I voted “yes” on this poll. Oops.

It might not have as much

flare as the second one because the long delay. BUt I still have high hopes.

Looks like it’s 100% for the “no” vote. And I completely agree. As long as Pixar

makes great movies with characters and storys people will want to see – they’ll be fine. No matter if its a

sequel or original…

In fact, there was a Jim Hill Media article that said

Toy Story’s fan base was actually increasing. So no, there’s nothing to worry

about.

But you have to admit, once they announce a sequel, will

it catch some people off guard?

I think that, even though it’s been a while since the first two, the Pixar name is now so well known and

utterly synonymous with good films that kids who maybe haven’t seen the first two (if you can imagine such a

thing) will want to see Toy Story 3 when it’s released, just because they trust the Pixar brand. As well they

should.

I’m still caught off-guard with the announcement of a sequel, though! XD Not because of

the time-lapse but because the more recent films have performed so well in terms of the box office and award

ceremonies that it’s surprising they’re going back to Toy Story rather than doing

a sequel to something like Monsters, Inc. or The

Incredibles. Not that I’m complaining of course! XD

I work

at a Clarks shoe shop, in the kids section, and one of the most freqent types of toys that are brought in by

little kiddies are either Buzz or Woody toys, and these kids are usually about 3-7 years old. That in itself

shows that even though it’s been a long while since the original Toy Story, and a while since it’s sequel, kids

of a newer generation are still watching it. It’s one of the reasons TS has always been so successful- it’s

very, very long-lived, especially since adults usually love it as much as the kids! Therefore, I honestly don’t

think that Toy Story 3 will be too late; it seems like there’s always going to be some sort of a fanbase.

I dont think it will be too

late. Most of the people who will see it will have seen the first two and most likely know basically what

happened in them. Plus a good sequel to me is one where the story is still connected to the original yet is good

enough that it could still stand on its own & be enjoyed even if you hadnt seen the original. IF TS3 isnt

that successful (and i’m not predicting anything) I dont think it would have much to do with how much time has

gone by.

I think it will do fine. It’s a classic Disney tale. Disney has gotten away with "Cinderella

III", which was released 57 years after the original! Kids and adults alike love “Toy Story”, so

I’m sure it’ll still do well.

Ryan - Yeah…and Cinderella III sucked. (snigger)

Welcome to Pixar Planet, by the way! I love your signature quote and

avatar.

Yeah welcome to Pixar Planet

Ryan!!! I hope you have a great time here!!!

Welcome to the boards

Ryan

Ryan: Welcome to pixar

planet!

Okay, back on topic! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll like it no matter what, since

it’s a Pixar film and Toy Story is love. I hope it’s released in theatres, for I shall bring along my old Woody

doll.

I have faith in this movie.

You know what? Maybe this movie can be one of the rare 3rd movie that just dominate completely. Most of the

threequels this year have not really impressed us, but Pixar definetely pulled it off.

I’m pretty sure an article mentioned that it’s theatrical. And thanks for

all the welcomes, by the way.

Ryan - You are most welcome!

I think it will do just fine, seeing that Toy Story is still popular today.

Same here.

From volunteering at a camp this summer I know all the kids there have seen Toy Story (they don’t realize how old it is) on DVD, so I don’t see how it matters if you released it now or later cus You could be 20 or 2 and still know what you are watching and like it.
