Who else would’ve loved to see more of Woody’s Roundup?
What we saw of it in TS2 was hilarious. It was pure, campy kiddie-oriented action/adventure. We barely saw any of the show in TS2, and my hopes of seeing more in TS3 were crushed.
But with the Toy Story Toons coming…there might be hope to see more black and white marionette adventures of Campy Hero Woody, Poor Heroine/Damsel Jessie, and Comic Relief Prospector.
Oh, I’d love that. Maybe it can be the basis of a TV watching episode, like the Toy Story Treat called TV Time, or maybe streaming online at [spoil]Bonnie’s house.[/spoil] And that reminds me, I wonder how Al and his respective Toy Barn are doing… just love all the possibilities for the Toy Story Toons, it’s a great way to give the fans what they want, without risking making a movie about it.
I would love a Woody’s Roundup show, but I don’t know if I would like it as much as a cartoon as I love the CG-rendered “puppet” version from the film. The problem is, I don’t know how well that version would go over with most people, either, not to mention the cost of rendering every episode.
Well, Buzz Lightyear appealed to kids as a space superhero TV show (not like any kid wouldn’t know who Buzz Lightyear is), but a Western like Woody’s Roundup might not have the same appeal. I mean, the whole show was made to look purposely corny.
They could always tone down the corniness a bit. And it doesn’t necessarily need to be CGI/puppets. I would find some enjoyment in the show even if it was a simple cartoon.
I kind of wish Disney did make a Woody’s Roundup series at some point. We all got to see what Buzz was like in traditional animation, but it leaves the nagging question of what Woody would have been like if his show was the same way.
I would love to see more of Woody’s Roundup. I also held on to that false hope (I kinda still am holding on to it…), that they will make a few episodes of the show or that Pixar will make a couple shorts in Toy Story toons.
