Then your friend needs to seek legal advice about it, unless they signed a contract that stated they could be terminated at any time the company should have to give notice, if not compensation. It happens, but getting laid off from a normal job happens a lot less than dry spells from working from home do.

At the moment I work in retail hell to put myself through University, and I was going to quit for my final semester so I wouldn’t be stressing out and working weekends – and the management specifically went to a higher level to ask to create a more acceptable contract for me, so I wouldn’t have to leave. Not all employers are crap, even in the crappiest jobs you can land a great manager who’ll do that for you.

Now I can work my two days a week and still have the weekends off without missing any school – and without the added stress of freelancing To be honest I’ve only had one job where the company and the management really pushed it with me, and as soon as they crossed the line I left. They asked me back and offered me pay rises to stay, too, suckers

Well to be fair, I guess what works for some can work for others and vice-versa
