Anybody know of, or have, a job where you can work at home?
It depends on the job in question. You may be able to get away with a stay-at-home job if the position you are in is a simple side job (ie., knitting, book writing, home-based animal sanctuary, free-lance, etc…).
So yeah, it depends. My dad sometimes works at home when he has free-lance work, a position in which he literally does storyboard projects here at our current residence.
You’ll just have to look around, explore, and/or be creative! ![]()

Book-writing and freelance suit me.
The problem I’m having with finding them is that many of them are scams and frauds. Trying to find a ligit one with a flexible work schedule.
Book writing and as of now, painting. But I don’t get many commissions for that.
Mostly book writing.
I don’t know if taking care of all my animals really counts, but I do it without being asked to. Mainly because they don’t shut up and the cats have me under their thumbs … err, paws. ![]()
Well I can see Commissions as being a possible profit. Would it take a year or so to publish a book however?
No, I meant I get commissioned to paint. Not book-writing. I’ve been developing my ideas since Junior year of high school and still haven’t settled on a way to write my novel. =P So … I’m mostly developing ideas at the moment.
Well that’s what I meant, Commisions for the painting.
Ahh yes. Writing a book and the ideas needed are the hard part. But I can see the end result being a good some-what-constant income. But handling things till then are still hard.
All you need to do is think of a service you can offer – child minding? My mother used to have a load of kids over for three hours after school every day, just till dinner time – and their parents paid for them to have somewhere safe and local for them to go after school. Or maybe pet sitting, though that might be more of a round-the-clock thing if people are going on holiday – or if you’re able to make things you can sell, try etsy.com?
Lots of people make their living from home by selling on eBay – they buy things from thrift stores etc, inflate the price a little and list it.
Interesting idea…
Nexas - Heh. vimfuego just reminded me of this nifty little website:
Check it out. ![]()

Yeah, I remember reading a story about a woman who made a fortune on eBay by checking all the gossip magazines to see what the celebrities had been wearing and then buying similar items in bulk, and listing them along with a picture of the celebrity wearing them. A sad truth about our culture, but it works. XD
I worked from home for a while doing web design and web development work, and I do still sometimes work at home over the weekends, but I actually find it more difficult as you’re more prone to distraction. In an office setting, everyone has their head down, doing their own work, but at home, since no one is physically supervising you, you’re that bit more prone to check your e-mail, check forums, turn on the TV… I find it a lot harder to concentrate and I’m a lot less productive.
Ha! That’s funny. Typical, but funny…
You can sell anything on Ebay. I saw dog poop for sale on that site once… ![]()

Thank you Mitch ^^ I’ll be sure to look it over ^^
If you find anything else ligit in your surfer please do tell too ![]()

Well some jobs you have to deal with a hard-a boss and such, not to mention being forced into doing things
If you can make yourself responsible in distractions then it can work out ![]()
You SERIOUS Mitch? Wow. That’s more than a guy who tried to sell SNOW on there ha hah.
I once saw an air guitar for sale. I was tempted to bid, just to congratulate the guy for being so awesome! XD
I suppose the benefits of working from home really depend on the line of work you’re doing. There are obviously some unpleasant aspects to certain jobs – like anything involving a shallow grill – but then again, that’s not really something you could do from home! When you say you wouldn’t want to be forced certain things, what are you thinking of?
Nexas - You’re welcome. I’ll keep an eye out. ![]()
I’m dead serious! I’d rather buy the poo than a set of McDonald’s forks that someone else was selling on the site, though. ![]()
Snow?! Haha! That’s hilarious! Like you pay $.12 just for a bag of water. ![]()

Maybe I put it in wrong words or bad context. It’s just I find home jobs more convienant if you balance it out. You’d have the comfort of your home with the ability to supply something to others. I mean you go out to a job, you spend time getting there, then your confined to work in the space for several hours under orders, then you go back, having to deal with other things. And gas prices these days, note though I haven’t really checked them as of late, are going up. Not to mention the rare but can-happen event of getting laid off without warrning ![]()
I suppose it’s really up to many people.
Mitch
Oh my hahaha.
“The delivering party is not responsible for the product once in the payer’s possession” ^0^
Not to mention that they’re usually hard to get started.
My friend’s mom is an accountant, and she works at home… and she makes the big bucks. ![]()
Pfff. Haha! ![]()

I think that’s far too rare to include as a con! XD You’re always going to have to sign a contract which legally binds you and your employer to a period of notice. I think mine at the moment is a month, both ways, so I’m still getting paid for a month and have a month to look for a new job if they discover my secret plans to-- er, I mean, if they decide to go in another direction. It also means a set salary, so if there are times (and there have been times) when there’s not very much work for me to do, I’m still getting a full wage, whereas, if I was working at home, I’d get squat. You’re working from paycheque to paycheque when you’re working from home, and they can be few and far between. At one point, I dropped two dress sizes because I couldn’t afford to eat three meals a day! And trust me, the starving artist lifestyle isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!
Far too rare? Tahahaha, hilarious
A dear person close to me was taken off, within about less than a year or so of service, their job without any notice or worker compensation at all
Just went to pick up their paycheck, and instead recieved a small letter indicating “ya don’t work here anymore” to coin a phrase. Even though they were doing a great job and had experience in the field and was not slacky at all.
