Thank you for reminding me, adding that one to my list! I can not believe I spent 9 dollars to see that movie.
Cats Don’t Dance does have a pretty comforting style (is that a strange word to use? It’s not super stylized but it’s nice to look at), but… man, it just didn’t do it for me. The music was pretty forgettable, and I don’t remember laughing a lot when I last watched it. I remember wanting it to be over with, basically. That said, I’m willing to give it another shot.
Oh, and I finally started watching Shark Tale last night for the first time. It’s quite possibly Dreamworks’ worst film (though I haven’t seen Madagascar 2 and barely remember the original Madagascar because it was on TV in my orthodontist’s waiting room). The visuals are shockingly below their par! Comparing other underwater films to it, like Finding Nemo, the atmosphere doesn’t really exist. It looks like there are strangely designed fish walking around in an ocean set built above the surface. Does that make sense? I’m just saying it’s not believable at all. As for the plot, I’ll get to that once I’ve finished the whole thing.
Another funny thing about the song for the dragons is that it’s the exact same title as Mike and Sulley’s song “If I Didn’t Have You” from Monsters Inc., except we know not to confuse the two. I’ll admit though, whenever I hear the title those two dragons seem to come to mind more often than Mike and Sulley.
Cinderella. I have this subconscious hatred for Cinderella since all she does is whine, and the first movie made us try and root for her when I rooted more for the stepsisters. Heck, the redhead has more personality than her…
I can see if you don’t like the movie, but I don’t think it’s the worst movie of all time. It’s a classic, and too good to be compared with some of the other films listed on this thread.
I admit it–it is a classic, but did they have to devoid Cindy of a personality?
None of the early princesses had much personality. They sang, cleaned, and fell in love. Personally, it doesn’t bother me. Everything starts some where!
Leirin: I love Cats Don’t Dance, but it’s not the best movie.

omg, i was actually thinking about this the other day. i love pretty much every princess movie (at least, none are coming to mind atm) but the earlier ones really don’t have any personality. like, at all. i think during the disney renaissance is when they actually had personalities. & the princes, too.
titanic: the animated feature is still the worst.

I know, but still…makes me mad…and confused.

I agree entirely. I love most of them(Princess and the Frog is okay, but I don’t love it at all) even though each one is flawed. Aurora and Snow don’t have much inside their heads either. It’s all about the conventions of the day. Back then(until the 60’s) women sang(sometimes), cleaned, cooked, and made babies. The end. Now, women don’t just do domestic jobs. They branch out more, and so do the princesses. Just like every other movie, the princess franchise has become more diverse and independent as the times and American culture has. I love Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora, but that’s just how the movies were. It doesn’t bother me; I find all 3 of them enjoyable enough.

I think she has a personality. I use to think she didn’t but after rewatching the movie a couple months ago, I see she’s very optimistic, creative, and caring. She even has sarcasm!
Well, I agree. They aren’t as fleshed out as say Rapunzel or Tiana, but they were good enough for the time.
I know, I guess it’s just me. I used to be all pink and frilly (well, pink–not the frilly) when I was little, but branched out into tomboyness as I grew up.
You know, I finished that Titanic: The Animated Movie yesterday, and it was AWFUL. There was no plot at all, and too much cheesy romance.
But in my opinion, Space Chimps still wins for worst animated movie ever.

I can agree with all of these. I admit they didn’t have lots of personality, but if there was something to blame, it’s the period when they got made.
But then it’s my fault for saying I hated Cinderella and Snow White’s movies… So yeah…
Don’t worry. You just don’t like the characters (I don’t like Snow White a lot myself)
Just like i dislike Ariel but I admit The Little Mermaid is a good movie. In fact, I started to like her more in my last watching.
I dunno…it’s just…Snow White’s all right, it’s her ice-pick-jam voice that bugged me, and the fact that the prince doesn’t even check if she’s dead, he just kisses her. Creepy, right?
Yes, her voice is the most annoying thing. But there’s also the fact that she has no nose for most of the movie.

Her skin is also pasty-looking…
