K, I was writing my fanfic, and since I didn’t really want to go to all the trouble of putting in my Cars DVD and watching the scenes I needed, I used the free online download version (who’s quality sucks, by the way), figuring I own the DVD so it’s not like I’m watching it without paying for it. Well, the commercial at the beginning of the video was talking about how pirating movies is a crime. On a movie download website!
you wouldn’t download a car!
i’m sorry??
Rac_Rules-yah that is rather weird. Its just mandated by the government to inform the public that downloading this is somewhere close to piracy if you make copies or use it unwisely. Stil rather weird though…
“You wouldn’t steal a handbag.”
Or when a “friend” of mine downloaded The Simpsons Movie and the blackboard gag that Bart was writing was “I will not illegally download this movie.”
I remember my brother owning a couple of bootlegs that actually had that commercial on it. xD
That is strange. I’m reminded of a movie I saw where the police searched a house where they knew a guy who sold illegal downloads. They put in one of his tapes and the first thing that popped up was the FBI warning and the cop says “you can’t say they didn’t warn you”. Haha!
you wouldn’t download the car is on internet in-joke!
Here’s a idea. Get a DVD ripping software. And copy and convert the movie to your computer. That way your not downloading it and you got your movie clip you want.
There are a few DVD ripper out there. All the good one’s cost money. However, keep a eye on the site Giveaway of the Day. Because every once and a while. They have one of the good DVD rippers that cost money for free as a one day special offer.
And before you say Giveaway of the Day (GOTD) is as bad as download movies illegally off the internet. They are in fact Legit so there is no worries.
The last two comedians that I’ve seen live have both made a joke out of that stupid advert. “Who are you to say what I would and wouldn’t do?!” is the general gist of their jokes. ![]()
forums were down for a coupel of minutes then!
seen the IT crowd version?
I would do that, except my DVD is screwed up so it skips, and one of the scenes it skips at is one I needed.
I hate DVD piracy! Give the people credit for their work by paying for the films they made!!!
Just bite the bullet then and get the movie off iTunes, It’s not going to kill you to buy the movie again.
Is your DVD scratched, or have dirt on it? There is some DVD cleaner that you can buy that cleans and fills scratches that can cause skipping. Sometimes disc imperfections are too small to spot with the naked eye, so it’s worth a shot to try cleaning it.
Yeah, man. That’s the way.
The reason why downloading is considered stealing, is because even if you own the disc, it is supporting the download site, or wherever you got it from.
Guys, I didn’t make this board for you to flame me for supporting piracy sites. I wasn’t really supporting them either, it’s not like I gave them money or anything. I still use MY DVD when I want to watch the movie, this was just a quick check on lines they did not have on WikiQuote. Don’t tell me piracy is wrong. I DID give Pixar the money they deserve, I own the rightful DVD. Non-pirated, store bought. I made this board to discuss the irony of the add on the movie. If the only thing your comments are going to be about is how I am evil for using the free download site, then this board should be locked.
Hey don’t worry…we just don’t like these kinds of activities…i’m sure we don’t intend or want to throw them at you…we all just seem to get mad at injustices.
If you have been offended or injured by the earlier remarks i send forth my apoligies at once for my fellow users “actions”…
We are not flaming you for it, and we’d be sorry if what we typed offended you, Rac_Rules. I think we all have no intention to make you feel like that. I’m sorry if you’re angry.
While illegal, downloading can be very tempting, because it’s right there. It’s the people who pirate the movies in the first place that make us all upset, and should be stopped. The quality is so much better on DVD’s anyway, and yes, it is quite ironic that they would leave the ad telling you not to download before their pirated copy of the movie.
And, I do understand why if you’ve bought the DVD, it doesn’t seem wrong at the time to just use the download site to check the lines, but the more hits that they get on their pages, the more likely they will continue, because they know that there is a demand for it. I’m not mad at you for downloading it, I just wanted to remind people not to. The movie shouldn’t have been pirated in the first place.
