Wreck-It Ralph

Maxxie, what language did you see it in? :open_mouth:

I’m Dutch so i saw it in Dutch, But with other films i always watch the english version first but my brother won tickets for the Dutch version  So i can’t wait for the English version i love the cast!

Oh, cool! Did they dub the songs or? :open_mouth:

What song?

I mean did they dub any of the songs? Just curious.

Oh No :stuck_out_tongue:

I have an older cousin with whom I plan on seeing the movie with. I hear it’s a really good movie.

Me too.
That’s why I connect with both this movie and the Toy Story films a whole lot.

I love Wreck-It Ralph! I can’t say much that anyone hasn’t already said. It just has cool characters and a fun storyline. Definitely my favorite computer-animated film from Walt Disney Feature Animation. Can’t wait to see it again (like the song)!

Really interesting to read your reviews (like MyGames, littlechef, etc) and discussions on WIR.

The movie just came out in Singapore last week and I was busy last weekend entertaining my folks like a organ grinder’s monkey, haha (So it is with great pity that I could not contribute to its weekend box-office take).

But I did saw it just a few hours ago in 2D in a small theatre. Short story: FOTY (Film Of The Year). Well… maybe. I gotta let my happy vibes cool down a bit before I arrive at a verdict.

Long story will come in a review, hopefully. I’m already planning a rewatch in 3D on a bigger screen.

Can’t wait for your verdict TDIT! Glad you liked it!

Thanks Leirin!

I’ve read how this movie is a hit, and how it’s possible that there will be a sequel. It hasn’t made half its budget back at the box office, but The Prince and the Frog made over half it’s budget back and it was considered a dissapointment. Not to mention all the merchandise that was sold. I have yet to see any Wreck It Ralph merchandise in stores, or little kids with anything from the movie. How are people seeing this as a hit?

I believe Wreck-It-Ralph is a playable character in Sonic And All-Stars Racing Transformed, so that’s probably a huge chunk for Disney right there. There’s also merch on the Disney store, not to mention the copious amounts of product placements in the film (something which I will mention in my upcoming rewatch review). So I think box-office performance alone is but one slice of Felix’s pie.

I’m surprised that Ralph hasn’t even made half of its budget yet at the B.O. - I did not know that. I’m also a bit sad that PATF wasn’t considered much of a hit, I thought it was very well-made and honest-to-goodness timeless stuff, which is hard to find in pop-culture driven films like Ice Age and Madagascar.

Funny thing is, while Ralph relies on a lot of contemporary knowledge of video games, it is not a prerequisite to enjoying the movie. I mean, okay, yes, you’d get more mileage out of it you can recognise who’s that blue hedgehog, but unless you’ve never heard of videogames before, its world building concepts and rules are pretty easy to understand.

I didn’t recognise half the toy brands in Toy Story when I first watched it as a kid (only the Etch & Sketch and toy soldiers, which I owned), but that didn’t mean I enjoyed it any less.

I forgot about merchandise being in Disney store’s (I need to pay one a visit. I forgot about their stores since they close the one closest to me.) I also forgot about Ralph being in the latest Sonic game. But even with that stuff, and the product placement in Ralph, I wonder if their making more money off that stuff than they did with PatF. Their princess line of stuff is so huge. I work in an airport, and I see their princess stuff all day everyday. But this is Disney, so I’m sure they wouldn’t talk of a sequel if they weren’t making lots of money off Ralph. It’s just so disappointing to see PatF considered a failure. I love that movie more than Ralph and Tangled. I know this probably won’t happen, but I hope a visionary takes over as the head of Disney once Ross leaves in 2015. But I’m sure it will be another figurehead in a suit. :frowning: Since they don’t wanna do hand drawn theatrical releases, I wish they would do direct to video releases. I would be down for that since Eisner is no longer in charge.

I wish there was more love and support for Patf too. :frowning: I have plans to buy its Blu-Ray (and maybe its Art Of book, which I’ve eyed for some time) with my future paychecks!

Speaking of merch, the offers at Zazzle are just amazing. Here are a few of my favourites:

^Whoa, those are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I love the flat 2-D art some Disney animated movies and Pixar films use in merch and promo items, it’s so nice

Wreck It Ralph is SWEET~!!! I think it’s BETTER than Brave… And it’s very Pixar under John Lasseter…

edited for caps. Please don’t capitalise every word (the occassional one is fine). It comes off as shouting in Internet speak. - TDIT

Thanks Leirin! Glad you liked it, chuckles.

Funny apparel-maker WeLoveFine has some pretty sweet Ralph shirts for fans. I’ve been a firm fan of the company because of their excellent customer service (they replied my e-mails promptly and include freebies with their deliveries) and their hilarious My Little Pony shirts. My request to reinstate a delisted Wall-E T-shirt was even granted by them (and yes, I bought it)!

A note to those living outside the US, you might want to bundle your orders carefully, cos’ their shipping costs can get quite high (although I don’t know if it’s their fault or the UPS).

I adore Zazzle stuff! Their entire Disney store is awesome. I have a WALL-E shirt from Zazzle! And back on point, I’m super-excited for the Blu-Ray/DVD release, which over here in the states is March 5th! Must… preorder… collector’s edition… once the preorder price lowers… :-D) Strangely enough, it’s releasing on February 12th on digital. Can I just ask why those who download all their movies are able to get Ralph before those of us who prefer physical copies??
