Pixar films that made the cut:
24. The Incredibles
23. Cars
20. Monsters Inc.
14. Finding Nemo
12. Ratatouille
9. Toy Story
2. Wall-E
Up
The one thing I don’t agree with is that Toy Story 2 isn’t on the list. Other than that, I’d just about agree with that list. Remember, this list is according to the ratings given to these movies from Yahoo! users.
Cars is above the Incredibles!!! I can’t believe it!!! It’s usually not above any other Pixar movie or out of the list completely!!! I’m so happy!!! Okay, maybe I should calm down a little.
Haha, nice to see number 1 where it is. Since it’s recent, there’s always that factor, but regardless. I’ve heard quite a few say it’s their new favorite. Very powerful film. Wall-E’s spot annoys me, mainly because it’s after Monsters Inc, and Toy Story. People need to go back and watch those.
Up is at one? Despite not having seen the film, and although I’m sure I’ll love it when I do see it, I can’t imagine it surpassing the greatness of Toy Story or WALL-E (though that might change with hindsight, of course). But that’s just personal opinion. I too am surprised at Cars’ positioning on the list, especially considering how popular The Incredibles is generally considered amongst Pixar films, but I’m pleased it’s got a spot on the list at all. Not surprised that A Bug’s Life hasn’t featured though, it’s always such an underrated film.
Welcome to the party! I am too! Not to diss Incredibles fans or anything, but it’s just that Cars was always the ‘black sheep’ of the Pixar family, so to see it within the top 25 makes me a very happy man. Yes, I’m biased that way, but so are fans of the Incredibles, Wall-E, Up or any Pixar fan for that matter. It’s my humble opinion, s’all. * fist-pumps and mouths “Yeah” *
I’m still glad Incredibles got top 25! As for the rest, I’d downgrade Wall-E (for as much as I like it, I think there are more worthy ones like Spirited Away or The Lion King) but still have it above the rest for its artistic beauty and storytelling courage, as well as switch Toy Story and Ratatouille, but again, it’s a matter of personal preference. As for Up, I haven’t watched it yet, so I can’t make a judgement, but I’d hazard a guess since it’s a recent release, most people would vote it for first place. I agree with lizardgirl A Bug’s Life is a seriously underappreciated classic, but then again, most people wouldn’t remember it as well as the others.
Is that a sort of definitive final list, or is it subject to change much like IMDB’s Top 100 list, mo?
I think this list is pretty accurate. I might disagree with a few of the selections and their placement, but other than that, I think this seems just about right.
LightningandSally- Well, yes and no. From my personal experience (though it is somewhat limited) The Incredibles seems to be one of Pixar’s most popular films, in particular with the kids (and especially with the boys, of course) but also with the adults. I see a lot of kids in my job, and even now The Incredibles clothes and merchandise seems to be all the rage. But then that could be to do with how it was marketed…Anyway, it just seems popular from my experiences, though that proves nothing.
I honestly am not sure. I think that this particular list is definite, but they’ll probably make a new list at some time. But only time will tell. And sorry for taking so long to reply.
Your welcome. I thought it was a rather interesting list.
I guess that was just a popularity contest (not nessessarily the “best” critically per se), I expected Cars to thrump the other Pixar movies, because it’s undoubtedly popular. What I am mesmerised though is TS2 did not make the cut (as woody said also), since it was a bigger hit than the orginal.
i suppose toy story may be above toy story 2 due to the unorthodoxy of medium at the time. i don’t mind, i do love that first movie.
i think the incredibles should have scored more highly, it is a wonderful film and far better than cars in my opinion. i’m surprised about ratatouille ranking more highly than finding nemo too. i suppose this is not a popularity contest.
Interesting, to say the least. I am surprised really that Cars ended up ahead of the Incredibles, but certainly not disappointed. It just shows to go ya, (yeah i meant to say it that way) its growing on people. No real surprise that the 2 most recent Pixar films topped the list, as people probably remember those the most.
