Those smiles are nightmare fuel.
tthedriveintheater: That second poster really scares me for some reason!
Great things come in bears, do they? Well, the scant dialogue found in this trailer is more than I can BEAR.
Thanks a ton, Hollywood.
Yeah, really.
As Wikiality: The Truthiness Encyclopeia based on Stephen Colbert’s humor says, "Remember, Yogi is smarter than the average bear. This only makes him more of a threat. "
After seeing the Toy Story 3 poster with all of the characters filling the whole poster, then seeing the Minions fill up a whole poster for Despicable Me, then seeing the new Tangled poster full of hair and Rapunzel and the prince in the middle, and now seeing that poster with Yogi and Bobo filling up the entire poster (which kind of creep me out, like the Tangled poster with the hair), I wonder if these kinds of posters will be a trend with animated movies.
I gotta admit that think Justin did a good job as Bobo, based on what I heard so far.
Seeing movies like this and the Chipmunks movies makes me glad I’m not a parent. I know my kids would beg me to take me to see movies like this.
I have already expressed my lack of enthusiasm over this thing on Boggs Board really but pretty much ‘word’ to everything that’s been said here.
I don’t think this sort of thing works in live action at all for one and it’s not something I’d want to see at all.
Then again it’s CLEARLY not for my age bracket at all.
But on the OTHER hand, just because something is for kids or at least sutible for them doesn’t mean it has to be stupid. I think we can all name examples like that.
It just has to be simple enough for them to follow as it were. I think though rather than being for kid-kids this is also for very young on-the-cusp-teenagers. I don’t know. But I don’t know if I’d have even found it funny then.
It doesn’t really even look like something which would be decent under the ‘guilty pleasure’ thing though if you know what I mean (which Planet 51 kind of is for me, it’s not really CLEVER at all but it’s fun and has some good moments).
But yeah this doesn’t really look like something you can secretly enjoy despite its flaws at all like the movie I mentioned. Like an exception to the rule. It just looks bad. That’s it in a nut shell.
Boy, are their smiles creepy.
Haha, I really want to see Planet 51 just for Rover alone. G-Force and Beverly Hills Chihuahua are my ‘guilty pleasures’ even though most people hate 'em, and I have a feeling Alpha & Omega will be a future one for me. But this… and Smurfs… just looks like cinematic guano to me.
Be warned: Planet 51 has A LOT of joke in the more adult area hinted at (if you know what I mean). It’s kind of like they couldn’t really decide whether this was a family movie or not which I’m guessing resulted in it not being that popular. (I’m going with not. If a kid you bring is in their teens or late preteens fine. If not in double digits… well still maybe, perhaps the jokes will fly over their heads but I’m not sure.).
But it still had some sweet friendship moments. It’s more or less popular in some areas on the net though because of the huge fodder fro the Chuck/Lem pairing. Chuck was more or less learning to care about someone other than himself.
If you are someone who can’t stand slash at all, even when it’s only joking I wouldn’t recommend it. (Though I don’t get that impression from your posts anyway.)
Long story short (don’t want to spil the joke):
[spoil]Chuck showing Lem how to kiss a girl and getting interrupted at the last minute.[/spoil]
Among other things.
But I guess we all have guilty pleasures. Twilight for instance is one I’ve had people admit is terrible but there’s something addicting for them in it. I wasn’t addicted though myself even if the third movie was actually decent.
I’m almost tempted to see Smurfs to see how bad it is. Plus I am confused- technically wasn’t the cartoon set in medieval europe? Oh Hollywood, you fail both History and Geography so HARD. XD.
Then again considering how often you fail Biology too… well get back on the bench! You’re not allowed on the team until you can drag your grade point average up to at least a C!
(I think this shows how much American media I intake since I can get that sort of thing).[/spoil]
Oh yeah, I noticed that too. I was kind of suprised. Especially the [spoil]antennae [/spoil]gag
As lame as Yogi Bear looks, I think I’ll see it. It sort of interests me. Even if I don’t like the original Hanna Barbera show. I’m totally going to skip the Smurfs movie though.
First the Smurfs…and now this??
Like the nostalgia critic said…RUIN MY CHILDHOOD, WILL YOU??
Yeah I dunno. I cant say I’m at all interested in seeing yet another remake of an old cartoon. Maybe if I was younger I would be, but not now. Yes, Justin IS good at Boo Boo. In fact, I didnt even know it was Justin until I saw the credits. Dan is okay at Yogi, probably better than most people, but not great.
Maybe we should start making a list of old cartoons that Hollywood feels they have to turn into live action movies…let’s see, whats been done? Josie & the pussycats, Scooby, flintstones, yogi, smurfs. OMG, have they done one with the Jetsons yet??? No? Well what are they waiting for? Geez…
Not to mention that they’re making a Speedy Gonzales CGI/liveaction movie staring George Lopez and Selena Gomez. Oh, and then the one with Marvin the Martian that’s live action/CGI where he trys to destroy Christmas but gets trapped in a gift box.
No, I’m not joking about those upcoming movies.
Personally I hope they turn Speedy Gonzales The Movie into a Spaghetti Western like Rango and not another ‘Alvin-and-the-Chipmunks’ flavour-of-the-month musical movie (but for Latino pop).
Ugh, I’m seeing standees for Yogi right next to Legend of the Guardians at my local cineplex. Those two films shouldn’t be within fifty feet of each other.
This movie’s definitely not smarter than the average bear. Am I right, Boo Boo?
I hate to be a downer, but so far it sounds like it’s going to be more like Alvin. It’s a CGI/Liveaction hybrid set in the modern day where Speedy has to find what he’s good at (I’m pretty sure it has to do something with running )
Anyway, back to Yogi. I think I’m going to actually see this movie, in theaters. If I have the money. I don’t know what’s making me want to see it. I don’t even like the original Yogi. But, I want to check it out. Weird, I know!
Because it needed to be posted: I give you the alternate ending to Yogi Bear.
Warning: Actually quite depressing and I wouldn’t recommend for younger children.
That was actually pretty creepy…especially how [spoil]Yogi’s eyes were moving at the end (when he’s a rug before the credits appear)[/spoil]. O_o I have to give that guy credit for taking the time and effort to make that, though.
I saw my friend posted this on their facebook. And I was like “What…the…he**”
I’m glad it’s the alternate ending, because honestly, that would be the worse ending for a movie, ever. Especially one that’s being marketed to families and young children.
I actually am a big excited for this film, I’ll probably see it with the family this Christmas break, my dad loves Yogi Bear.
The fact that it’s a great parody of an even greater movie put it over the top for me. If you haven’t seen the film it’s parodying I definitely recommend you check it out. It’s called the Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford.
I think I might be the only person on Pixar Planet who’s seen this movie (and I saw it on opening day, lol)
Anyways, it wasn’t all that bad. I actually enjoyed it. Sure it had it’s corny jokes and giant plot hole. But I didn’t have high expectations for this film, so I walked out content with what I saw. Justin Timberlake had an awesome performance in this, there were actually a lot of funny moments. On good thing about it is that they left out Cindy Bear. She would of carryed the story down, and she’s a floozy with an annoying voice so her being there would be unneeded IMO.
To quote Dot from Animaniacs this movie had “a plot hole so big you can drive a truck through it” But overall I liked it, fun family film. 3D worked well for it, and I liked the animation. I’ll probably be seeing it again with my family!
