So there’s a bigger plot hole than a box turtle with a several-meters-long extrudable tongue (as seen in the official trailer)? Anyway, glad you enjoyed it! If I ever saw it, it would be for the Ackroyd/Timberlake (!) voice work.
Cheers! Steve

Oh yeah! If you can even say there is a plot. And if you do, it’s a cliche one.
I loved Hey There It’s Yogi Bear.
This is the second theatrical film based on Yogi Bear, so I suppose it counts as a sequel.

haha, I guess so! I didn’t really connect the two together, they’re way too different.
I like Hey There Yogi Bear more than the new one. Even if it has Cindy Bear in it gag
I’ve watched Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear for the very first time when I bought it on DVD this Christmas. Nothing on there except the movie, but I found it a lot better than I could imagine the new one being. I also wanted to watch it mainly because I do a lot of studying of old classic animation for inspiration now, and the things I look for are things I’m not going to find in any live action remake with realistic CGI bears. This movie also has some great songs:

And I actually don’t find anything wrong with Cindy, just so you know.
Flik-E, I’m glad you liked Hey There, which song was your favorite by the way? Mine was Whistle Your Way Back Home.

Same here.
So, I saw Yogi Bear again today. My grandma invited my sister and I. I usually don’t see movies twice in theaters. But it was free and I wanted to spend time with my family. I had fun. It was my Grandma’s first 3D movie, so she had great fun lol!
Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention. I really enjoyed the RoadRunner/Coyote short in front of Yogi Bear. I had a lot of doubts about it being in CGI. But it captured the original spirit of the Chuck Jones shorts but with adding new jokes. I can’t wait to see more once The Looney Tune Show premiers.
Because it needed to be posted: I give you the alternate ending to Yogi Bear.
Warning: Actually quite depressing and I wouldn’t recommend for younger children.
I haven’t watched ‘The Assassination of Jesse James…’, but that was such an emotionally powerful ending. Until they played the cheerful pop music over the credits, then I burst out laughing.
But yeah, thank goodness this is just fan-made and not an actual alternate ending. I cringe to think how traumatised the kids will be to see [spoil]Yogi turned into a rug[/spoil].
Considering the Roadrunner short is destined for an Oscar nomination, I suppose I could pay the 10 bucks for that alone.

Is it really? Well good for Warner Brothers. I really enjoyed the short. As I said, it captured the spirit with a new modern twist. When I saw the movie yesterday there were parents with small children, and they clapped and applauded when the Looney Tunes logo and theme song came on!
As a side off-topic deviation, LOTG also had a Roadrunner short which I loved both times I saw it in theatres (I think it’s included with the DVD). I think there’s also a new Scrat short with Gulliver’s Travels.
Anyway back on-topic, yeah, I’ve looked at the reviews here, and hardly any of them positive. But then you have to remember these are grown-up critics who probably are expecting something matured along the lines of True Grit or The Fighter, not to mention they probably have the animation=for kids bias in their cynical minds.
Not going to see this in theatres, but may check out a rental.

Either that, or they most likely grew up with the original cartoons.
That’s why I think I enjoyed it so much. Because I went in the theater and I wasn’t expecting it to be the crown jewel of movies, to have any special meaning, or to be fantastic. I treated it like it was - a remake of a cartoon from the 60s. My expectations weren’t too high. So I came out happy with it.
Guess what? Sequel!
I was reading Animation World Network, and fell across this short news article, about two of the Rio writers who will be writing on Yogi Bear 2.
That caught me off guard. That was the first time I’ve heard of a sequel (I need to check animation blogs more often) and of all movies, Yogi Bear? I admit, it was a guilty pleasure for me. But I didn’t know it was successful enough with critics, audiences, and the office to motivate a sequel.
I was thinking about Yogi Bear the other day (I think it was when I was thinking of what movies I meant to see when I was at the mall last weekend). And I did mention a few posts ago in this thread that I may get it on rental, and I have half a mind to check it out now.
But wow, two of the Rio writers? Well, I liked the character interaction in Rio, although there were a couple of missed story opportunities (like they could’ve focused on Blu defending Linda’s love for him, or maybe more on Nigel’s backstory, etc.). So hopefully the Rio writers will have learnt some lessons from their last movie and do a better job for the Yogi Bear sequel!
Anyone seen this Yogi Bear and Saw mash-up? Kinda funny stuff.
You should defintely watch Yogi Bear. It’s not the world’s greatest movie, by far, but it is a fun watch. Defintely worth a trip to the $1 rental RedBox.
And good points, I would like to see how the Rio writers progress in their (as far as I know) second script.
And I love that mashup! Very welldone, and funny!
