I was just thinking about the signature song of the Toy Story movies, You Got A Friend In Me. Do you think that it will be in some form in Toy Story3? I’m pretty sure that it will be because I’m sure that Pixar would definitely stick their tradition of having this wonderful song in each Toy Story movie. So what are your thoughts about this?
I think it’s got to be in there somewhere, either in its traditional form or perhaps a bit jazzed up, like in Toy Story 2. It’s such a well-known song that it’d be silly not to include it in the third, especially as its lyrics can easily be related to some of the themes of the third film.
It better be, or I will be quite upset. I’m hoping it’s sung by Randy Newman instead of a toy though.
I really hope Randy sings it again this time, maybe…starting out sort of like the intro song from Princess & the Frog…and then jazzed up at the end. Idk, i think it’d be cool to hear it sort of slowly (while someone is reminiscing) and then when everything’s resolved, a jazzed up version
I’d be fine without it personally. I mean, we already got it 2 times, 3 if you count Tom Hank’s version. I think it might feel forced to do it again for the third.
I do want to hear Randy sing his song this time around though. I missed that from TS2. my theory is they only used the song in TS2 because they wanted to retain some musical consistency from the first one, and since randy didn’t sing anything in TS2, they brought back the song itself.
in TS3, if they get Newman to sing whatever song he wrote recently (which Lee mentioned witnessing the birth of not too long ago) then they don’t need you got a friend in me anymore. except maybe in the credits.
I think if we get it at all it’ll just be in the form of subtle musical cues, no lyrics.
Its important not to retread the same ground. Something needs to change, either the performer, or the song. and since we already got the song in the last installment, I vote keep Newman, take out you got a friend in me. replace it with something just as good if not better.
I’m personally hoping for a flamenco or mariachi version of You’ve Got A Friend In Me, with loud trumpets, spanish guitars, and violas. I think that besides sounding hilariously awesome, it would fit perfectly into the Spanish Buzz theme of the film.
NAILED IT! So apparently YGAFIM is going to make a comeback in Toy Story 3 in Spanish by Abbey Road Studios. Not exactly mariachi but close enough as it does fit the Spanish Buzz theme of the film. I think this is enough to say that Buzz’s new personality will not be simply a throwaway gag in the film, but perhaps a major plot point. Anyway, can’t wait for the soundtrack!
You got a friend in me will be in the opening sequence
If Toy Story 3 really is the end, I think it would definately be awesome if they had the original Randy Newman version of ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ song return.
they have a spanish version in it
Looking back at this thread, I can gladly say Pixar made good use of the song.
i was just saying it was cool saying it like oh it’s a spainish version
I thought the way they used it was very fitting and hilarious.
Yes very well done! and stop by the line “our friendship will never die…” gave me goose bumps
